Wasn't a fan either. Wasn't it meant to be touring?

Looking at the poll rating for this I'm shocked how badly it did on here. For the record I hated it also Poll is upside down… Whoops

I loved (some of) the cast recording and what I thought the story was, but when I saw it I was massively underwhelmed by both the show and a very poorly Sam Tutty, who shouldn’t have been allowed on. It was quite an early preview and he was struggling. Presumably the u/s hadn’t been rehearsed yet?
It is a very small show but somehow they bigged it up to make it sound like a blockbuster. Once I went back, knowing what to expect it was much more agreeable.

Does anyone on here have any knowledge about the lack of a UK Tour going ahead ? I had heard a UK Tour was happening with a week booked in for January in Glasgow but then nothing ever got announced. Maybe they decided it wouldn't sell well after the movie flopping ?

It does seem that the gear shifts in theatre during covid times and the flop of a movie has all but killed this musical. I haven't heard anything concrete about a tour thus far and can't imagine there's much demand for it.

I must be the only person on earth who actually liked the film I think, well the first half anyways.
But what the hell did they do to Ben Platt's face to try and 'de-age' him.
I have seen him a couple of times out and about in New York and he is a very handsome young looking guy as is.
He looks like a circus freak in the movie *shudders

Just watched it on Netflix. Never saw the show in the WE, not something that would appeal enough for me to do that. I found it to be rather affecting. It’s a very good example of how the songs in a musical are intended to heighten the drama, I think it achieves that massively. I did think that the songs were more like an album by a single artist though. Very similar in style. Overall pleased I tuned in, I’d see it if it toured.

We watched it on Netflix as well this afternoon. I wasn't a fan of the stage production. The film has it's enjoyable moments (some of them unintentional) and it's nicer to look at that the stage design, it's still not my cup of tea. And like with the musical, what Evan does is is brushed under the carpet. Also, after those 3 really good songs, it gets a bit boring. Groundhog Day or Come From Away were robbed of that Tony in my opinion.

He endures the pain of his mum, he loses his girlfriend as well as the trust of Connor’s family. And he confesses online to his lie. How is that brushing it under the carpet?

Agreed, how this is even an issue is beyond me. He's a child, did they want him killed or something?

I loved CFA and it was extremely well directed, but as a musical it paled in comparison to the genius of Great Comet. As much as I loved Act 1 of GHD, it lost me in Act 2. It didn't deserve anything against the competition it had.

I felt Come From Away’s creation and inspiration vastly more unique… but I am also a bit of a Dave Malloy sceptic (so not entirely sold on The Witches yet). It was a big year for shows not wanting to go up against Hamilton so holding fire!

Comet is my favorite musical so I am perhaps a little biased. However I don't know if they will ever recapture the brilliance of that original Broadway version and its superb cast.
