I am pretty good with TodayTix timing but have had no luck recently. Oh well, that is to be expected. This is one of many shows for which my appreciation has grown with reported viewings. The original cast is really strong, but I have seen this with almost all standbys. Sadly, despite seeing this in the week the US covers flew over, they had all left by then. This a show that was really hurt by the pandemic but will have a strong life on tour. They haven’t confirmed plans to tour yet have they? I hope it does but I don’t think it’s a done deal?

After trying and failing for rush tickets last Monday and Tuesday, I was successful this morning for one in the Dress Circle box. Looks to be an ok view from the seatplan photos, just glad I will get to see the show one final time.

I'm not convinced that Dear Evan Hansen will do that well on tour even in smaller venues.

Although the buzz has died down a lot, it was still a very popular musical until recently. I can't imagine it would do any worse on tour than other shows. There are many people in the target demographic who wouldn't have had the chance to get to London to see it.

Any board members seeing the final performances today? Marcus Harman is doing the matinee and was superb when saw him soon after the show opened and hopefully will be doing another show soon.
With them flagging the close three years after it opened its certainly a reality check on just how much has happened in that time, quite a different world in so many ways.
The show was a more mixed experience but may give it another view if it does tour.
Main memories other than Marcus standout performance was seeing a audience already word and story perfect for a new show from the internet / social media buzz clips for the first time.
For a show that had just opened it did seem a bit fuzzy with seemly missed mic and missed spotlights not the sharpness you normally get in just opened shows but never been sure if that was just part of its look
Main memory is the massive queue for merchandise from the doors opening and before they saw if the Show was any good. At the interval the users had to urge people back to their seats as the want for merchandise was more important than seeing the show.

I’m going tonight for final show. Not a superfan but I always enjoying opening or closing nights. Saw it once Broadway in 2018 but skipped the movie.

Sadly not. I didn't get lucky with rush tickets and the remaining £127.50 bargain basement tickets still left are just beyond my reach. I did see Marcus last week though. Hard to say which of he and Sam is better as they both perform the role so differently. Each brilliant in their own way. I did get to attend the first preview as well, plus the reopening first preview after the extended closure period. What really holds this show together is the strong supporting cast. Hope anyone who is there for either performance today enjoys their visit. Do report back.

Sounds like an emotional final performance. Video on Sam's Instagram stories of him shaking with tears as he took to the stage for the last time. Apparently he also had to stop on the first verse of You Will Be Found as he was so emotional. The atmosphere in there must be electric.

It's going to be a very emotional night for sure.

Was very emotional for sure. Sam was visibly shaking and crying the second he sat on the bed at the top of act one. He also had to stop during ‘you will be found’ but managed to get through it. Audience was perfect during act one, loud at the right moments but not overly disruptive. End of act two there was some over the top weeping in the grand circle which was distracting.
I don’t know the show well but I think there were (at least) two adlibs. After Jared got entrance applause in act one he said something like ‘wow, band practice went really well today’. And after Evan bent over to praise Zoe in act two she then did the same. Maybe they are in the script but they seemed like deviations?
Curtain call speeches by Sam Tutty and a lady from the US creative team who I can’t remember with all of the crew and standbys joining on stage Nice send off overall.

The film is on Netflix from 24th August. I've already seen it in TV so was it maybe available on Amazon before? I don't subscribe to anything else apart from Amazon and Netflix so must have been one of them.

I have the DVD- does that make me old? I still buy dvds of any movies or shows I like, and still have a dvd collection. All it takes is the internet to be down and there's nothing to watch.

Mind you I didn't like the film very much.

I also do but usually by the time I get to watch it's on Amazon/Sky or Netflix and I watch it there. I'm lazy and it's easier than having to get the DVD, turn on the player and bend down to load it. That's awful isn't it! I've got so many DVD's still in their wrappers that I will never watch as I've now seen them.

Just to shock those of you who think I'm old for proudly owning a DVD collection, last month I sold two VHS tapes -yes, you read right, VHS tapes- on eBay!

Looking at the poll rating for this I'm shocked how badly it did on here.
For the record I hated it also

I mean, it’s only upside down compared with how we do it now. I used to put the one star first then for some reason when everything started up after covid I started doing the five stars at the top. Shoot me! 🤓
