Apparently Young Norma is still there.
I don't think the US audience are specifically being anti-Brit (or against non-American leads), because there seems to be good word of mouth about Fred and Siobhan, who I thought were both outstanding. I've seen great Max's in the past, but Siobhan's Betty was really fantastic, and her singing divine.

Mickey X is getting good feedback from some aswell. I thought he was good and I'm pleased our cast were chosen to be in the Broadway production. It was the ENO after all. We get plenty of Americans filling roles in the West End. It's a funny thing but since seeing it last April I haven't touched the Glenn cast recording, or any other, and I was THRASHING it before then. I think I'm scared to put it on in case it spoils the memory. When i think back i always land on the scene where theyre screening one of Norma's films and the projectors are flickering away. I thought that was so atmospheric. But the best thing of all time was that bit when Hogeye throws the spot on her, she sings AIWNSG and all that crystal jewellery sent shunkley wunkley disco-ball laser lights across the stalls   OMG I loved that and I'll never forget it. |

People on Broadwayworld seem to mainly very positive for the show, finally people are believing that it isn't a concert.
I dont think the mixed comments on Michael Xavier are anti British, as has been said he divides opinion here. I thought he was awful and went from being a fan to not wanting to see him in another show

I started by booking us Upper Circle seats then traded in both tix when my wifes eye broke & I had to go on my own, and got a supposedly r/v seat in the circle. My second visit from the balcony was nowhere near as affecting. I know it will remain up there with Kate Bush & Freddie era Queen, as the theatrical experiences of my life. |

Also feel the same. Those memories of the last night with its electric atmosphere are very precious. And whereas I am sure Ria Jones will sing the hell out of the part, I don't want to see anyone else as Norma. Worth every penny.

I will go to see the tour too, but I have to admit that I'm not the greatest fan of Ria Jones. I have seen her a couple of times and I find her voice too 'cabaret' if anyone understands what I mean! Admittedly, I was seeing her in a concert setting, but I imagine she'd be the same in the show tbh. I hope to be proven wrong.

Having seen Ria from the gods her first night on, I splashed out on Stalls front row when La Close returned. Stunning. But I will go to the tour because, although I'll always cherish the memory of her Norma, I simply cannot imagine never seeing Sunset again!

It's the tour costumes that put me off slightly. I can live with a lesser set, but when Norma is put in anything but the stunning original costumes I just don't see her as Norma.

I am sure Ria will wear another set of clothes as they won't want to pay the original costume designer on a tour budget. |

I watched this vlog last week...won't lie, Glenn Close has now become number 1 in my list of fantasy dinner party guests after this, would be even better if she can host it. She just seems so cool.

Ew! No sorry, I refuse to believe that Close took off her flu infused costumes, gave them to Ria to sweat her tits off in them, and then wore them back again. Let's face it, as expensive as these costumes may be, we're not talking about a price of a penthouse. Not to mention that she never wore all of them to begin with.

Because Glenn Close owns the costumes, I read elsewhere that she gets paid for letting them use them. Smart cookie! Though I doubt she needs the money.
