I like Michael, not the most daring choice but still a good one. Very excited for Fred Johanson, the guy has a wonderful voice (although I was hoping for Philip Quast as Max)

Fred Johanson as Max is a brilliant choice. Michael Xavier is predictable but yes, happy enough with this.

The cast also includes Julian Forsyth as Cecil B DeMille, Mark Goldthorp as Sheldrake, Fenton Gray as Manfred, Haydn Oakley as Artie Green and James Paterson as Jonesy. Further company members include Carly Anderson, Jacob Chapman, Katie Kerr, Aaron Lee Lambert, Vicki Lee Taylor, Jo Morris, Ashley Robinson, Gary Tushaw and Adam Vaughan. The incomparable Ria Jones who created the role of Norma Desmond in the original Sunset Boulevard workshop all features in the cast as Close's standby ( ). Out of curiosity, what do you think will happen if Glenn Close misses a performance? I mean, they have Ria, but I bet a lot of people would ask for a refund. |

Aside from Close and Xavier, I have no idea who anybody is in the cast. But am happy to be surprised by their talent!

I think I read James Peterson is in the cast... wasn't he in the original London cast of Phantom? I'm quite sure I saw him in Cats in Milan when I was 11!

Have to say I don't like this trend though. if you want to see something really good its like City of Angels or Funny Girl and booked out, or full for the next 6 months, or if you want to see really good people, like Michael, Siobhan, or last year, Katie Hall, its £100 plus for a decent seat. Meanwhile, there's fewer full musicals on in London, fewer top names visible in their casts, and most of this year's tours seem staffed by soap stars......... |

I'd be ready to hop a flight to London to see Ria... that's exciting that the woman who first sang "With One Look" in its earliest incarnation might get a chance to perform the show in front of an audience

In fact I think that rumour might have stemmed from them filming the ENO concert, which means a cinema broadcasts is more likely? I can't see how a proper movie can be under consideration with GC. i don't even think ALW would want that. |

I believe Don Black was the one who said as much in a recent filmed interview about this production. I could swear I just saw it about two weeks ago on YouTube when he was interviewed for this production. Or maybe it could have been one of those long editorials they did in the English papers. But Phantom of London is not imagining this, it was mentioned just recently about how there are talks again of making the film.

Wasn't particularly excited by the further casting, more a feeling of relief that the show will be in safe hands with top quality performers who should do it justice.
Actually more excited to hear they will be using the original costumes. "New Ways to Dream" doesn't sound right to me without the clatter of the beaded dress on the steps of the staircase. (There had better be a staircase!)

Want to hear it for the first time live!! Good plan. I don't think you need to know the Sunset songs in advance to enjoy them, which I find I do need with a lot of shows. I can remember loving the music from the first performance I saw. Enjoy! |
