It's the tour costumes that put me off slightly. I can live with a lesser set, but when Norma is put in anything but the stunning original costumes I just don't see her as Norma. Well, all you need to know's the lady's paying.

One would hope the Broadway run would be preserved in some way with it being such an "Event". A live cast recording would be great!
Maybe Paramount will finally let Andrew make another movie out of it. He did an alright job with School of Rock, and that was one of their films.

The Lord said 3 years ago in an interview that he hoped any success he might have with School of Rock would pave the way for a Sunset film of some description.

The Broadway run has just extended through to the end of June. Official opening night tomorrow, I believe?

So the costumes that were missing from the ENO run have now been "recreated" (much more cheaply by the look of it) for the Broadway run. Which kinda proves the actual original costumes are the ones Glenn Close kept, and she doesn't have a full set. Which was pretty obvious from the start.

I thought they'd already recorded the album? Swore that Siobhan tweeted something about being in the studio since they've been in the US?

Nice teaser of the show and I have to say that I prefer Norma's costumes.

the Broadway artwork is so much better. Shame about Michael's vocals and weird boulevard pronunciation
it does look great though. hope it gets filmed

I like that they got Michael's bare chest into the promo video. They know their audience 😁

Is this footage from Broadway or is it from the filmed ENO? Remember back in the day when they said they'd film it? It's hard to catch the faces of the ensemble members to discern if it's the new Broadway ensemble or the guys from London.

The US critics don't seem to have done their profession any good with this one . Reading about 7 reviews I am led to believe that Joe is pallid, or lacking , or nothing like as good as someone dead for decades - or the best Joe seen, or better than the same dead past actor. One even thought he was the best thing in it. He conveys for some, what he fails to for others. There's also the nationalists who praised the odd American in the ensemble, but found the UK cast too subtle, and more who tell us they think Sondheim would have done better. Other characters are supposedly either very successfully portrayed - or bland. I don't care if they don't like ALW , and never have. or didn't like the lyrics when it came out, or that that they are so stuck in the past they want it done as it was before. Something on what it sounds like , or how well its sung, might be more useful.A bit of openess to the idea that you can play roles differently might help some too. They can't even agree about Close - She's better , or weaker, than last time she did it. And she's either had a triumph , leaving people crying in the isles, or she has failed to convey the real emotion, whatever, and hammed it up. Best to ignore the critics, and just ask what the audience thought.

I agree with djp. I sometimes like to read reviews for observations that I might not have picked up on, but some guy's (aren't they always men? what's up with THAT?!) opinion rarely would have any impact on me.
What I do appreciate about British press is that while critics evaluate the show, don't have the power to put a show in or out of business as the press does in New York. I really never fathomed how a pan from the New York times could be to a show's detriment. I appreciate it's one of the most important newspapers in the world, and how respected it is, but to have THAT much impact astonishes me.

Maybe he should have one that (simply) states the following:
Let's get together; Thats what they all say
