My favourite Joe Gillis has to be Ben Goddard - just saying Yes, I enjoyed Ben in the role and loved that production.

Of all the Joe Gillis - Kevin Anderson was always one of my favorites (at least vocally, never saw him live) - he had a naturalness and ease to me. Never really cared for Alan Campbell any of the 8 times I saw him on Broadway, or on the recording. For me too, Kevin Anderson was the best. Vocally, he may not have been superior but I feel he really captured the torment the Joe finds itself in, feeling for Norma's plight/predicament whilst slowly falling for Betty. I also saw John Barrowman and Alexander Hanson. I remember John Barrowman but completely forgot about Alexander Hanson (If truth be known I had to look at an old theatre programme) and I actually like him. Never saw Alan Campbell but have him on the Broadway cast recording and (in my opinion) he's just too hard, too cynical. Now some may argue that's how Joe has become since being in Hollywood. (Possibly) my opinion may change had I seen him on stage.

Alex Hanson was the first Joe I saw and still my favourite. Graham Bickley was too soft for my taste, as was Michael Xavier. Never cared too much for Barrowmans voice.
Speaking about the official recordings I totally agree with your oppinion on Kevin Anderson. Best Joe on CD

I'm actually really surprised she may go to New York with the piece. I mean, it is smart for money making but she will surely struggle with the vocals. If she had to miss performances with just five weeks, twenty weeks is a huge ask! 8 performances a week for 20 weeks, 160 performances is a long run! Good on her if she manages it though!

Not sure if it means anything but just noticed that they have pulled the US cast recording from Apple Music. Seems an odd thing to do unless they are planning a re-release or something.
Edit: and removed from iTunes as well.

They don't say how long the run is. I was planning on going in May to squeeze this, War Paint (YAY LUPONE!), Anastasia and probably and a few others.

This must be one of the only productions that was priced as high in London as it is being in New York.

Of course I don't agree that she can't sing it, she's not the best singer I've ever seen but is certainly one of the best actresses I've seen on stage. I'd much rather have the acting be amazing and the singing not 100% than just an amazing singer or you might as well just be at a concert. The amazing acting and her singing makes it so much more real and believable and a fantastic evening at the theatre. I've seen loads of note perfect performances with sub-par acting and I know which works better. There are very few actors I've seen nail both. I have never seen anyone command the stage like Glenn Close.

This must be one of the only productions that was priced as high in London as it is being in New York. You didn't have to pay a lot though. I saw it three times,twice with Glenn and once with Ria, for £13.50 each time including booking fees and had a great view from the Balcony!
This and Titanic at Charing Cross, which I also saw three times, were the highlights of this year for me. Such wonderful scores and fantastic casts.

1-They did a photo shoot 2-The website is one large image, including the placeholders that are supposed to be links 3-So I guess it'll play until end of May? Sounds good to me. I'll be there. 4-I hope she wears a turban and not that wig, and when she does wear a wig, it's a good one 5-I hope they go with the alternate mid-week and/or matinee Norma this time. And they should do what they did with Hello, Dolly! and cast someone truly capable of holding their own like a Carolee Carmello or a Marin Mazzie type. OR Donna Murphy on a non-Tuesday Dolly performance!

Pretty sure she's not eligible, although the production will be. It's a good job really, as Best Actress is already packed with acclaimed performances and previous nominees/winners: Bette Midler (Hello Dolly) Patti LuPone (War Paint) Christine Ebersole (War Paint) Denee Benton (Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812) Christy Altomare (Anastasia) Eva Noblezada (Miss Saigon) Phillipa Soo (Amelie - yet to be confirmed but very possibly coming in)
