Michael Xavier as Freddie I would guess. He is a known factor for them. Though in my opion a meh Joe Gilles. Who knows they may even use Danny Mac who is a better Joe.

I thought Michael was very weak and annoying as Joe.

Dany Mac reads too young for the role and TBH i think he's under qualified to do this.

Scherzinger, on the strength of the performance I saw, is a much, MUCH better singer than Idina Menzel. Granted, that's not a high bar, but she was genuinely very good. Menzel screeched, as she does in nearly everything.

Menzel screeches indeed, and has the awfully annoying habit of pronouncing "N's" as "L's".

Well, I have to hand it to Mr. Tibs - he does pay attention. He'd caught the bit of the conversation last week when I mentioned that I have never seen Chess and that it's coming back.

Trouble is, he'd done his inevitable wandering out of the room before he heard the second part of the sentence when I added how totally bonkers I thought people like @caiaphas were in buying tickets before the casting was announced......

So you can all have a(nother) big laugh on me and my Chess tickets Christmas present and pray for the Casting Gods to be gentle....

I just booked this too. I hope the casting is good too but I'm looking forward to seeing it regardless.

Out of interest, does anyone know how you book slips and boxes on the ENO website? I just booked through Ticketmaster for the Dress Circle slips which seem like a good deal (compared to the other prices in there...) - went to check on the ENO website to see how I missed them when I was looking at prices previously, and I couldn't find any evidence of them anywhere.

They have left cast announcements unusually late, so I suspect ENO have got someone big lined up, but holding off from announcing until 100% confirmed.

If they haven’t then, there are going to be offers galore, so those who booked early might miss out.

Hi guys, I'm so glad that you have revived my original post about Chess coming up to its 30th anniversary and kept it alive with talk about the ENO production. Needless to say I am very much looking forward to it and hearing what you all think. Hopefully there will be some casting announced very soon and then we can really start imagining what it's going to be like. In the meantime, thanks for contributing to the thread and I'm sorry I've been absent for so long! I promise I will be fully involved from now on and hope to have many interesting conversations during this exciting year for Chess. I do have an extensive website with Chess history and I run a Chess Facebook group, but I don't know if posting links for either of these would be against Board rules, so I won't, but you can google me if you would like to see the website. 

Looking forward to the next move at the ENO

Whilst welcome along etc, why are you adding a needless post WITHOUT CASTING INFORMATION!!!! At this stage I and numerous others are very excited, ney desperate, to know who is going to be in it. Then you come along with your “new poster” status, making us think you’ve got some god goss for us, posting stuff that isn’t the names of the cast so I cannot in good faith say welcome. 😂

What on earth is the point of posting a teaser like that without actually naming the person?  All it does it look as if you're taunting those of us on the board who aren't fortunate enough to have inside information (even if you didn't mean it in that way).  And especially if you're only talking about rumours, then why not just name them?


I'm sorry if that seems harsh, but these kind of posts really irritate me, and don't really contribute anything to the discussion other than causing frustration!

I wasn't aware that the thread was only for casting news! Very sorry if some kind of "new poster" status made anybody think I would be posting about casting. I thought the board was for any kind of discussion about the show concerned. I'm sorry if anybody was disappointed by my post.
