Damn, couldn't resist it, booked for 08th front stalls. Sorry, missed this post about the other tickets. It's costing me a fortune, flights are horrendously expensive as are hotels that weekend but what the hell, this should be special.

And it's the Pride London Parade that day. The vibe at the Adelphi should be amazing. Says the old bird booked in the stalls

Quick question...does anyone know who the new angels are cos I can only seem to make out two from the cast announcement which are Jed Berry and I assume Momar Diagne is taking over Craig's track

The only one I know isn't an Angel is Jordan Fox, even though he was a swing for an angel in the original cast. He is now Harry, covering Charlie Price! He made a damn pretty angel

Dale Evans will be the Richard Bailey track, so cover Harry and Charlie Price.

Just seen the new Lola in a video West End Live released of the WEL performance (obviously). Firstly visually he's not what i expect of Lola, he looks small and muscly and i'm not sure about it and secondly, and maybe it's not a fair comparison based on one performance but vocally seems way below Matt. But he's probably a more assured and natural looking dancer than Matt just based on that clip.

I guess video from the street (where an actor may not hear himself properly plus the camera obviously "eats" and modifies some of the sound) couldn't be the best thing to rely on judging the vocals. The looks — maybe, but I guess even the bootleg audio from the Adelphi would give him more credit. I haven't seen Simon (my friend had and never commented on his vocals in a bad way) but those actors I saw sound differently on WEL videos. In a bad way differently.

Matt Henry didn't have a great voice but was better than this one,

I do have to say I saw Simon's third show as Lola he wasn't the best vocally compared to Matt but his vocals got better as the show progressed and he was quite unsteady on the heels(I.e Matt was/is a much better dancer). But he acted the part phenomenally which more than made it up for it. I think as time goes on he's going to get a lot better.

I don't think there will be a 3rd cover Lola this year.

Do we have a roll-call for Saturday night? Not stalking, just wondering how many from here will be there.

Got tickets for Saturday matinee and taking family who are visiting for the weekend. I believe it's Matt Henry's last night. Do you think that they will do that thing where there mess around. Is it called meas up matinee or something like that?

Another of my famous silly questions. Why do the cast 'muck-up' the matinee rather than the actual final performance?
Is it assumed that the matinee audience are more tolerant of pranks and/or theatrically illiterate?

Re-muck up matinee I've always assumed it's because the 'proper last one' is respected as the last outing as a character for an actor and they should be allowed to have that and/or that more family/friends/industry types are in for the very last so they want that to be as good as can be.
Hope Matt Henry and co have an utterly fabulous last day at the factory...!

Okay, next silly question. Are the pranks obvious to the paying public, or are they more in-jokes that will only be spotted by fangirls who have seen the show numerous times?
Just imagine you're a tourist in London for the first time, and you've paid £95 for a premium ticket because you think that the West End is the pinnacle of the art form.

They're supposed to be subtle enough that nobody but the cast knows about them. Obviously hardcore fans spot them and occasionally it goes wrong and people get the giggles etc, but it's only 'allowed' on the proviso that the audience don't know what's going on. So Stage Management leave it out of the show report etc (mostly).
A famous one is that in Phantom (one of the original cast changes?) someone hid in the boat, the audience had no idea he was there but of course the poor Phantom had to sing the entire song without giving away he had a man under him (as it were).
So no, it's not suppsoed to disrupt the performance. The avid fangirls would know (I'm sure the Wicked thread has some examples of it) but everyone else shouldn't be.
