I swear the St James’ is much smaller? Won’t the wonderful depth of the stage be wasted? We hung around for a while at the end of a performance of 42nd Street last week. They lifted up the curtain and could see all the way to the back of the theatre on the stage. There was no scenery and there was 8 or 9 nine guys trying to push a piece of set. Was absolutely huge. |

This show would be a waste of any theatre let alone one as big as Drury Lane. It’s a stinker of a show. I’ve not spoken too single person who thought it was any good.

I hope it’s better than the show I saw on Broadway a few weeks ago! It was sadly the most dissapointing show I saw of my trip. The theme park version looked better; it wasn’t funny, Olaf didn’t work, the naked sauna dance bizarre, Elsa just stands and sings, the ice castle is a curtain, the Greek chorus doesn’t work and the set looks cheap. The music is however great - shame the rest of the production doesn’t match the old and new songs. It’s discounting on Broadway already.

A real stinker. I’ve seen every Disney show. This was my least favourite. Even better than Mermaid on Broadway! |

Such a shame I won't get to see the refurbished Drury Lane for a while!
The only way I would see this show would be if I got a free ticket, and even then I'm not sure I could be bothered - I think the film is wildly overrated and I haven't heard good things about the Broadway production...

I want to see this, in spite of the bad reviews, but think in light of the reviews they shouldn't have gone for such a huge theatre. Surely better to sell out a smaller house than close levels here?

I really don't get the abject hatred and distain for this show. Saw it on my May trip to NY and enjoyed it well enough. My mum is a huge fan of Frozen so it was a no-brainer to include this in our trip. She loved it and said that she'd definitely see it again should it come to the West End.
Sure it's not high art but its a nice way to spend a couple of hours. There are certainly things that could be improved, and they are potentially reworking some of it (Please remove the "naked" section of hygge, so awkward). There are also some really lovely elements, like the Sven puppet, and the ice effects during the young Anna and Elsa section of the show. I'll definitely be looking to get tickets when they go on sale.

I also don't understand why people are ever so disappointed and feel cheated. Let It Go is just fine. An ice castle would have been nice in theory, but it's really no loss. Don't get me wrong, not one iota in me is excited about this news, mainly because it's not my kind of show and I've seen it already. But of the Disney cartoons that made it to the stage, I thought it was well more tolerable than the racist dribble that is Aladdin, the infantile Beauty and the Beast, and Lion King which is only good in the first five minutes.

I think it is perhaps a) a general sense of disappointment with Disney, one of the producers who COULD produce spectacular magic and fail time and again to truly deliver and there are so few shows around today that "dazzle" in that aspect and b) connected to that the extortionate pricing both on Broadway and increasingly in London. If I am expected to fork over close to $200 or £90, I just want a bit more than something half-heartedly slapped together in the hope that people will come anyway because the movie was such a hype. "enjoyed it well enough" just doesn't do it for me at this price.
I thought the movie was nice enough and I think there had been plenty of scope for some magical winter wonderland atmosphere on stage but nothing I've seen and heard of the stage version makes me want to part with the hefty sum demanded for non-premium regular tickets. I'll probably go at some point, but for me it will depend on the casting how excited I'll be getting about this.

The opening number of act two is based at Wandering Oaken's Sauna, talking about the concept of Hygge. Starts off fairly normal with people bundled up in winter clothes, culminates in the ensemble doing a kick line in skin colour lycra maybe (supposed to look naked) with some strategically placed branches to cover their intimate parts... |
