Stick it in the West End and be done with it. Pay Ben Platt to come over and open it for 6 months ala Idina/Wicked and then cast Liam Doyle as Standby to take over full time after! Simples - I'll ring Marc Platt now! What he said! Am now sold on Mr Doyle as Evan.

You know what..still have my doubts this will come over.
Liam Doyle looks too much like a Danny Zuko-type big guy on campus and not like an awkward kid. Where is that video of him supposedly singing an amazing Waving Through a Window?

Young Vic is too small for the current production (and Menier, Southwark etc are even smaller).
More likely is Lyric Hammersmith, but Spring Awakening at the same venue was transferred poorly.
Okay, well, I don't know the Lyric Hammersmith, so I'll take your word for it. And while I understand that the producers may not want to "downsize" DEH, I don't see why the TV screens and whatnot can't be downsized. From what I recall, many scenes take place in Evan's bedroom or Connor's family's living room or in fairly bare "school" settings. Broadway does many small shows in a "big way" and for big prices, which I personally think would work just as well in a smaller space - Once was my prime example for this, but also Scottsboro Boys, Next to Normal (worked fine in small theatres later), Spring Awakening and soon Fun Home. Obviously they can't keep the in-the-round-setting in the Young Vic here either. But let's wait and see. I guess I'm mostly hoping that it will come to a fringe venue because tickets will be cheaper

Not many West End houses can safely copy that but maybe the Trafalgar Studios for a potential 'Fun Home' transfer?

But you need to ask WHY they'd do this. Artistically, it makes no sense because they'd deviate and start all over again, instead of recreating the original- which is what most people would want to see. Shrinking the size of the original means two seats, two completely different tech processes. And most importantly, a smaller venue means smaller returns, but probably with the same amount of effort. There's got to be a business sense out of their decision to chose a non-West End venue, and the business plan of that run will also need to make sense.
I would think it might be at the Lyric Hammersmith or something. Is that where American Idol was? Or was that the Apollo? That was ah horrible venue.

No, I believe 'American Idiot' did a short season at Hammersmith Apollo (think Dominion or Apollo Vic), then was done a year or so later at The Arts Theatre in Leicester Square.
Out of town try-out perhaps, but fringe venue seems like burning money.

If they'd gotten a wiggle on it could have gone in the Phoenix... similar seating capacity?! Just put it straight into town!
Or actually is it going out of town to test the waters for a UK market?!

Liam Doyle sang You Will Be Found at the Musical Marathon at the Other Palace a couple of months ago, I have an audio of it somewhere if anyone wants to hear it, we were allowed to record, I don't think he's ever done Waving Through A Window though (as far as I'm aware).

Somewhere like Hampstead or Almeida might work for a limited run before a transfer to the West End or if Hytner and Starr want a musical, The Bridge Theatre could work.

Have messaged all of you a download link for the audio. I'm so sorry Andy because I know I said I'd send you it absolutely ages ago and completely forgot, I promise it wasn't anything personal

Could somebody please forward it to me? Save poor Martellos fingers! There was a snippet of him doing 'For Forever' on his twitter but I've never found it again...

To me Liam has always been too awkward teenager for roles like sam in ghost or link.

It would be a good fit, I agree.
Time shall tell. Fingers crossed, all the same.
