I didn't get a programme on Sunday, but i'm surprised there isn't an understudy for the Narrator, unless Linzi is considered that. I thought/assumed 'at certain performances' meant what was advertised. Does that mean that Linzi can't commit or do anything else for the whole run? I'm intrigued. There are definitely understudies for the narrator but I guess Linzi is more of a standby/alternate, like when John Owen-Jones covered Alfie’s (numerous) absences during the Les Mis concert run at the Gielgud as well as doing his scheduled 3 shows a week. I’d guess maybe they’d call Linzi first but if she’s unavailable or Alexandra calls out last minute it then goes to the understudies, I doubt she’ll be in the building at all times like the standbys at Wicked.

Wow, I’d always assumed that after the inevitable nuclear war, all that would be left was cockroaches and Kenwright’s Joseph tour. Haha. And Patti Lupone saying they'd have done the nuclear war so much better if they'd listened to her.

There are two Row A of the Grand Circle on for £20 each- frustratingly it wouldn’t let me book just 1. At £20 for a ticket it would have been ideal and I’ve been there before so know the view is great

Thanks richey I wonder why they're not on. Maybe they've not rehearsed them yet. Is there an official opening night set dor this? I know it was 15th July, but that was before they cancelled performances.

I was lucky enough to be there tonight!
What an AMAZING atmosphere! Great standing ovation at the end, with a long applause when we first saw Linzi!

One can only imagine how peeved Burke must be about this!

Don’t know if peeved would be the right word. It must be hard for her knowing the reception Linzi gets, but she’ll have her own fans too.
I do wonder if Alex signed on knowing Linzi was the alternate or if it was decided after she’d signed.

I don’t think Alexandra would care about the reception anyone else gets.
There is probably only a small handful of people who knows who Linzi is and her history.

No announcement Linzi was on just notices posted on doors etc. The curtain went up and there she was and the applause started and just grew. It was spine tingling and joyously moving to see her emotions and her reaction to the tidal wave of love for her from all three packed levels. Her voice was flawless and her energy astonishing. Audience absolutely adored her. Jac, all but stopped the show with his Close Every Door with quite a few on their feet in the stalls. The night though belonged to Linzi which the ovation at the end proved - unforgettable.

He was never into Joseph and did not particularly care for the 92 production. I had to "force" him to come with me - but now we have a new fan LOL

she doesn’t come across as the “starry” type to me. No she isn't . I met her after Chess and she just chatted away like i had known her for years. She is well grounded and I am sure she just enjoys being on stage.

One can only imagine how peeved Burke must be about this! I can categorically confirm that Alexandra got a very similar reception on her entrance and throughout when I saw the show last week - and took a well deserved final bow too… she was amazing throughout, her energy and vocals never faltered and I’m sure will continue to lead the show through the summer putting lots of smiles on audiences faces on ‘non-Linzi’ days!

She is well grounded and I am sure she just enjoys being on stage. Yeah she seems very genuine, and she is very talented in her own right. I would imagine she wishes the best for Linzi just as Linzi I imagine wishes the best for her. Most women support other women as we have enough struggles without being pitted against each other. They are both talented in their own rights and both attract audiences. It just makes me uncomfortable discussing this imagined jealousy, and competition when it quite simply is two talented women smashing it in the same role on different nights and that is that.
