I had no knowledge of this musical at all before seeing it. Although, I did know about the premise of the show.
It is a terrific, classy piece of musical theatre. It was surprisingly funny and played without sentiment which meant that the tragic moments hit harder. The entire company is a masterclass in ensemble performance - each having moments to shine but seldom leaving the stage and playing a myriad of characters easily, without confusion with just a change of a hat or jacket and accent.
It is simply but effectively staged on a revolve with a variety of chairs and a couple of tables but the show is in constant movement from the opening through to the end. The time flew - no sooner had the planes "landed" they seemed to be leaving. I was totally riveted throughout! Of course, everyone who is old enough can remember exactly where they were on that dreadful day 9/11 and this show packs the emotional punch of bringing back the "not knowing" of what was happening or why.
Rarely have I seen such a packed house laughing loudly one moment and then being completely silent the next - no coughing, no phones, no sweet wrappers -just intense silence in the moment. There are few moment for applause during the piece as it is driven on at a terrific pace but as the lights blacked out at the end, I have rarely witnessed an entire audience spontaneously spring to their feet in rapturous applause.
This will undoubtedly get good reviews and good word of mouth - I hope enough to be a smash hit - it deserves to be.
Edited to add that the view from the side stalls F2 was great - unrestricted as all the action takes place front and centre. I would not like to have been much further forward as the stage is very high and the front row very close and you would get severe neck ache looking up the entire time.
5 wicked stars!

Anyone who's bought Rush tickets through Today Tix, could you tell me which seats you were offered please? (I want to do this in a few days)

Not the best view, but there is an aisle so you aren't crushed up against the wall and for this show you don't need to see it head on so it was a total bargain.

The badges are got from the ushers at the main entrance near box office / merchandise/bar area on leaving at the door. Also there is a map to pin where you come from in the dress circle bar. But also you can checkout the history of Gander/9/11/pictures/interviews and those it affected on a giant board at the back of the stalls door entrances.
I noticed you can now book until Sept 14. There still doesnt seem to be a big marketing push especially compared to Waitress which I noticed a lot at the weekend. Although it is getting good word of mouth dont think tickets are flying out the door other than a week ahead.

How did you find the front I had seat A10 tonight for this truly wonderful show. From row A you cannot see the performers' feet but for me the proximity to the stage more than made up for that. HOWEVER I would not recommend the front row which is one of the sharpest look-ups I've ever seen, worse than Bristol Hippodrome and the Apollo. One young lady sitting in front of me and no more than 5 foot tall must have had a seriously sore neck by the end. I assume row AA is sold as day seats so purchasers can be warned.

Got the chance to see this tonight. Wow. It certainly didn’t disappoint. So glad I got the chance to see it and it’s the one piece I’ll be telling everyone to see, whether they’re into musicals/theatre or not. Already looking forward to going back, though it may not be for a while.

For anyone tracking the rush, i tried for 30 minutes until it said all sold & try again tomorrow... then 5 minutes later there were 3 tickets left so i nabbed the last pair. Row D in the dress.

Saw this tonight and thought it was very good. Felt very comfortable in so much as everything and everybody delivered seamlessly. It reminded me a lot of Once if only because it was the same venue and there was an obvious and quite appropriate Gaelic/Celtic influence in the music and accented delivery. It’s only 100 minutes straight through so all in all, it will make a good start to a longer night out in the west end. The story itself was a little to sugary for me but checking it out online afterwards it does appear to be an honest and approprite telling.

Last night was sold out.
The view from my GILT seat was great.
We got badges
Piece, performances and production are all brilliant. Bizarrely I find the recording more emotive but the stage production was still very moving
This deserves a set of amazing reviews and awards

Thanks everyone that's seen it for posting your thoughts - it’s great to hear that the vast majority that have seen this already seem to love it! I can’t wait to see it on Feb 22nd as I have been obsessed by the CD since first hearing it last August. Just wondering if the press reviews will be a little cynical given how positive the show is. I know it got very good notices in New York but they obviously view anything 9/11 through a different prism than people outside. I worry that London critics may not be so understanding or kind and hope that if that is the case the great word of mouth carries it through!

Rush report! After they were all in baskets at 10:00:01, I kept tapping and tapping for a good 8 minutes before finally, two dropped into my basket. Grand circle row B so not too bad.

My other half bought me tickets for this for a Christmas present and we are seeing it on March 2nd. I can’t wait - have loved the cast recording for a while now.
I was lucky enough to meet the writers (and their very polite young daughter) on a flight when they were leaving Dublin after the European premiere. They were just as charming as their show and clearly enjoying the direction its success had sent their lives in. It’s always nice to see good people succeed!

When I tried for a rush ticket this morning it said they had all gone and to check back on Saturday. Any reason why not available for Thursday and Friday?

When I tried for a rush ticket this morning it said they had all gone and to check back on Saturday. Any reason why not available for Thursday and Friday? I think they're just sold out too quickly. I've tried today to check what they are offering, and got a seat (but then released it). They're really sold within minutes, the other day I wasn't able to secure one (although as someone else pointed out, they sometimes popup a bit later)

The rush tickets are only sold on the day for that days show so I take it there will be none available for thur or Fri and wondered why.
