A truly uplifting heartwarming show. And it doesn’t just show the automatic acceptance. The Muslim is mistrusted by most and all faiths are eventually included. I loved it.

I see a good musical several times, as seeing it again you always pick up on things you missed the first time and maybe the second time round. A good musical should stand the test of time. I have even liked a show more on the second visit, as you are more familiar with the score and so more perspective. Completely agree. There are a couple of shows I revisit frequently, and each time I go it's like greeting an old friend, and I settle down in my seat and let the music take me away. And yes, it's great to pick up on details or something I may have missed the first time around. Then it progresses to performances, little nuances that may be different from how I remembered them, and so on. I have lost count of the number of times I have seen my favourites, but I don't see them to the exclusion of other shows. I am always open to a new favourite! |

Sat in Row A (second row) and can confirm the stage feels very high, but the view is still decent, you just can't see people's feet. When I go again I will probably try to set a level up and get a sense of the full stage and the movement. Unless I'm dayseating in which case £25 is good value to get up close. The show is fantastic and the cast are clearly having a ball!

I have favourite films I will watch over and over. There's a number of shows I will return to because of the joy they bring me. Groundhog Day in its short run at The Old Vic I saw 5 times because I adored the play and the music and every time I left on a buzz. I mention that one in particular as it is February 2nd and the film is on a loop on Sky ...
If it makes you happy don't knock it.

Oh i'm not knocking going back to see a show multiple times, each to their own, if people love seeing a show and enjoy going for regular visits then that's great. Just me personally i feel like i'd like to keep the show as fresh as possible and just preserve my memory of it. The most i've seen a show is 3 times, which was Wicked, and i'm pretty much done with that show. I'd certainly want to want more than to feel over a show. If that makes any sense.

I'm disappointed i didn't get one of those badges! I saw on twitter after the fact that special badges were being given out for the first audiences but sadly i never saw anyone giving them out, so that was a bummer! I wish i bought the magnet now too.

I've been getting push notifications about rush going on sale for this since day 1 and got a ticket yesterday although couldn't go in the end but it's definitely working

Cast changes and closing nights aside, I can't remember the last time I saw and heard an audience reaction quite like this received at the end of the show tonight. Word of mouth is going to be amazing.

Whilst I appreciate it's a completely topic however it had a very 'Once' feel about it.
It must be so gratifying for the cast, crew and musicians to get such an immediate reaction to their work.

I was there tonight also.
Affirmation of a great musical is at the very end, when the stage lighting blacks out, you get a visceral roar of approval from the audience, it was deafening tonight.
I imagine there are board members on here who may not been born when 9/11 happened and some too young to even remember, however no one needs telling of that awful day, as it was that dreadful and the people who were old enough that saw those tragic consequence of 2 aircraft turned into 2 massive missile, which caused people who had no option but to jump to their death and the harrowing sight of both towers collapsing, will always remember where they were, it was such a defining moment in history, as it was so desperately sad. So why base a musical on such a terrible event? This musical would never have happened without 9/11, however it really isn’t about that, but is about another more palatable story from 9/11 that happened several thousand miles north in Gander, Newfoundland and the altruism that the local community bestowed on people who ended up there by accident, when American airspace was immediately closed without notice.
So based on the events above, a hilarious book was written around this and great foot tapping songs composed. This is truly an ensemble piece, so if you like your leading male or female this musical isn’t for you, likewise if you are going to ogle at a great set or choreography this really has neither, but everything else will instead give you a big hug, as this great show is delievered by a cast who work their socks off or should that be Lumberjack shirts, obviously the star here is Racheal Tucker who used every part of her voice to delieverer ‘the sky and me,’ however the whole case are uniformly great and they are on stage the whole time, switch characters effortlessly to great effect, as I said it is an ensemble piece so the cast are great together.
The most upbeat and feelgood musical since Hairspray, despite being set on the most horrendous circumstances, but then again Hairspray was too.
A show that is as pleasant as a piping hot cup of tea, a late entry for the Olivier, this should and will win.

I was in Row B on your side I think - I thought I recognised you but I’m painfully shy so didn’t say anything. I can’t explain how much I appreciate the overwhelming response this is receiving here. Minority opinion here. Left me completely cold. Did not care a hoot for any one of the stereotypes on stage. Audience response had me baffled. Sorry.
