Does the Shaftesbury feel too big for Dear Evan Hansen? Otherwise I think my punt would be Mean Girls. Anastasia should be either along by Piccadilly or (if Matilda ever went) at the Cambridge.

I think it's a bit big for Dear Evan Hansen, but you never know. I'd prefer to see it in a slightly smaller venue.

DEH is going somewhere smaller By smaller do you mean a playhouse? Could see it at the Noel Coward after All About Eve or maybe even the Lyric. Depending on how the refurb takes, maybe the Shaftesbury could be a potential home for Moulin Rouge in 2020 or 2021?

Its going somewhere much smaller than the Shaftesbury. I would imagine a big splash musical will be the next thing to head there. I still fprget thisnshow is running.

^ This all makes it seem like a new production is booked into the Shaftesbury, encouraging the big push for the refurb. Sara Bereilles teased on Twitter that she has an announcement coming soon about a Waitress transfer, so that is possible. DEH at the Garrick maybe? Is “a big splash” a clue? The Little Mermaid? Titanic?

OMGosh. That 'Gigi' transfer is happening isn't it?!
Actually I hope something I don't want to see goes there. It's a bit too out of the way for my liking. I don't schlep for shlock.

Is there much of a set downscale between the West End production and on tour. Been a few years since I saw this in London but the tour doesn’t seem to have much physical set and is heavy on projections. Whilst they are excellent I had thought there was slightly more of a set in London.

Seems not many people on this board have seen this. Indeed all the posts from the past year are about the closing and tour.
I finally went tonight, I knew I wanted to see it before it closed and I had an open night. I actually quite liked it. Act one very good with act two not quite living up. Much more of a “book” musical than I was expecting. I died a little inside during the audience participation moment, and the “grab the hand of the person next to you and sing along”.... not ideal when you’re a solo theatregoer and don’t know the song. Only a handful of folk up dancing at the end so Atleast I didn’t have to do the obligatory get up and dance. Kudos to the cast - they are all great vocalists.

I know the Bord Gais in Dublin is pretty massive but that is a bigger gap than usual between the proscenium of the Bord Gais and the false proscenium Motown have. Is the set for this really that small. Very few tours actually fill the Bord Gais stage but the gap is never usually that big. It looks a little lost on the stage. http://instagr.am/p/Btk7A4pFndr

I haven't seen it but from what I have seen it's just a bare stage, some columns that move on and off, some chairs. 😂

Some columns that move on and off? Bit harsh on the actors. I'm sure they're trying their best. 🙂

The UK tour stopped at my local tonight and it was divine. Berry and Diana stole the show.
One humourous anecdote for you tho: at one point Diana got two audience members up onto the stage to sing a duet with her. One was a man named Martin from London. Di looked at his tshirt/jean/trainers attire and asked if he was dragged here by his wife, gesturing to her in the audience. He replied: "That's my daughter". Audience bursts out laughing. Di turns bright red. Man then mutters to her: "My wife is much younger", and she keels over with laughter and takes a little while to compose herself. Audience lap it up.
It was great fun, am glad to have caught it before its end.

Wait, has it closed already?!
Wow. That must go down as one of the least talked about closings for a long runner we've seen in the West End if literally no one was talking about it.

14 pages in over a 3 year run, and a tour! Gotta be a record for a long runner. I am glad I saw this though because it was quite fun.

Even if you discount the first 10 pages as "I just don't think the West End needs this show" doom-mongering and the last 5 pages as "I can't believe it's gone" mournfulness, that's still a good 264 pages of content!

Yeah, it closed in the West End last Saturday. The tour is a long way off finishing though, thankfully, that'll keep going till early 2020 I believe!
