Am I missing something, or is the "special offer" of no booking fee not just the exact same price as buying direct from the box office? 🤔

As it happens, I have no desire to watch Motown

Oh dear... 😂 And there I was thinking someone somewhere would see sense and Memphis would return to us 😉😂 I'm still bitter about Memphis closing for this 😂 Motown isn't bad, it is what it is and serves its purpose and the cast smash it. But when a show as fun and deep and as good as Memphis closes for it.... It will run and run and run unless a big show from Broadway wants the theatre I imagine.

A proven case that not all theatregoers do have good taste or any taste at all.

I've always said the problem with Memphis was its name. Mowtown is half the show but has a better brand!

I liked this but wouldn't rush to see it again: understudues on for Berry Gordy, Smokey Robinson and a lot of hard work from a talented supporting cast (especially Jay Perry as David Ruffin and Jermaine Jackson).
But the fictional story is flat and the snippets of songs make you long for less titles and more complete versions. When you get a full song, it's good.
Wigs and beards though are atrocious.

I don't know why, but I always forget this show is still running in London. It's just there.

What makes you ask that? I doubt it. I think with Dreamgirls and Motown in town, there probably isn't room for Memphis, musically. I'd love it if it did though, was great.

Memphis planned to tour but they shelved it because Beverley wasn't available. As far as I'm aware there are currently no plans for it to return, either to London or on tour.
Motown will be announcing its tour soon though.

I'd rather Memphis come bsck personally, but I don't think its gonna happen. Which is a shame, as I doubt both of those shows will be running a year from now anyway, at least one of them will likely be closed by then I imagine.

Yeah, not sure why, but I feel like Dreamgirls will have closed by the time the years out. Can feel it in me waters. Which would be a great shame as its a great show. I think out of the 3 Motown is the easiest sell given the (unfortunate) appeal of Jukeboxes in London/UK. Memphis is a really likeable show. I think alot of people would love it and return had they seen it but its getting people through the doors which seems to have been the issue.

Wonder if it will close in the West End once the tour begins ala Beautiful or as some are predicting, Kinky Boots?

£60 standard top price and £72 premium for the tour at Manchester Opera House! Same for Bristol Hippodrome, though they do drop to £50 and £62 during the week. Glad I'm not all that bothered about seeing the tour
