What's the link for? Surely not Evita for the WE again? We've not long lost it from the Dominion... it's not a great show either. It needs retiring for a couple of years at least before bringing it back.

It needs retiring for a couple of years at least before bringing it back. It CAN be a great show imo. But a lot depends on the direction. I saw the Madalena Alberto/Marti Pellow tour (although he wasn't on thank God), and it was okay but kind of meh. And then I saw a completely new production in Belgium a while ago and it was very refreshing and grittier.

Then again, a filler is better than an empty theatre!

Well it's the first post on this thread, so I'm suprised you missed it. Yes I'm an infrequent poster, but I only post when I know things are correct, not frequent posters who post rubbish rumours. My post was merely saying it's not one of the list of shows that have been mentioned in this thread. Incidentally the show will be open by the end of July. Didn't realise that was so bad. I won't post again. Please don't be put off from posting. Many people enjoy the hints and teases. However it's always very much appreciated if the people posting these can give a bit of info to back up their post, without giving themselves or their sources away if that would cause difficulties of course.

Strictly Ballroom is not transferring to the Phoenix or anywhere else, so I have heard. The show closes in Toronto next week.

This production of Evita is no where near West End worthy unless it was just a filler. Although it would make sense I suppose to have it as a filler until December when it goes to Dubai or whatever they are doing with it?
All those poor Emma Hatton fans, its gonna be like Sophie's (Evans) choice deciding whether to datseat for Evita or Wicked if it did happen!

If we have a production of Evita come into the West End, I wish it was a brand new production and not just the one that played the Dominion on a smaller stage.

I'd rather have Strictly Ballroom as it seems a bit different t some of the current field, but I'll take Elvira purely as I've never seen it. Can understand though why some may be less enthusiastic.

Okay but someone, forgotten who now, said on the Evita thread that there were some pre-Christmas Evita UK Tour dates to be announced which made me think they'd booked in some more theatres around the country as opposed to West End?

Evita has UK tour dates pre-Christmas, before going abroad again in the new year.
Re the Phoenix, contrary to all the drama a couple of pages back, nothing is yet confirmed. There are shows looking at it, but nothing is booked, confirmed or even pencilled. So for the time being, we need to take everything with a large pinch of salt until there is an announcement.

I would love to see Emma Kingston's version of Eva.

Opening anything as soon as the end of July doesn't leave much time to build up a good head of steam. Oh. I suppose that rules out The Railway Children.

Any particular reason? Great if it happens.

Any particular reason? Great if it happens. It was a good play and would be great if it had a West End run, but they'll probably need to recast Jamie Glover's part now he's doing Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. Also if Nigel Harman's directing the Shrek tour again, I imagine rehearsals for that would be October time.

I suppose that rules out The Railway Children. That's very clever, though you can hear the Northern line from the stalls at the Phoenix. Musicals get away with it, but for that reason, any play would need to be quite lively!

Latest update is that the Phoenix is going to be dark for a couple of weeks, then have two "short running" shows, followed by a "long running" show.
Shows confirming in the next 24 hours, two doses of Kenwright looking likely.

I'm afraid I don't have info on what the shows will be, only rumours of the short-runners. Aldwych I haven't heard anything for a while so not sure on that one.
