The band has been confirmed. Does anyone care?!! Jeez Barnaby, if you don't care, move on to another thread.

I could enjoy Ms Evans I think. If Marti Pellow were to reprise his Narrator (a very accurate homage to Ruthie Henshall’s ‘not opening my mouth while I sing through my teeth’) it would be a hard no.

Glad to see the appreciation for the musicians.
Surprised they are being so silent about who is in the cast. I still remember Niki Evans from the X Factor (showing my age) and I'm sure she will be brilliant.
I have had the ticket offers email from the venue and would love to attend if time/transport permits, but it looks like this tour is in safe hands.

Much as I LOVE Blood Brothers, there would be no way I would see it again until it's completely revamped in a whole new production.
For me, great as it is, it's stale as f*ck, and needs a major reimagining to elevate it to its best.

I completely understand your point of view, but I guess when it's still selling well in its current format, why would Kenwright put money, time and effort in it? Or maybe lack of time and effort is the wrong phrasing - he's very much involved with it.

It is a heritage piece now. I can’t imagine it ever not existing in its current form.

For me the joy is in the relative naffness of it; the synth sound, the knackered set, the age inappropriate casting, the overwrought DRAMA!!! Love it.

No problem with all that, it's just this unshakable belief that the producers have that middle aged men are anything other than cringey when pretending to be 7 (nearly 8).
Danny Taylor has been playing the same part for decades, Sean Jones coming back - again. Mark Hutchinson doing Eddie into his 60's. Lyn Paul spending the majority of the show as a mother to young children, a character at least 20 years younger.
Sorry, but it's embarrassing at this stage. I am all for producers being loyal to good professional hands, but there has to be a point where they say thank you for your service, send them a picture of a spitfire and wish them all the best.

I'm conflicted as I loved Sean and Mark's performances when I've seen them but I do agree that there needs to be a time to stop. Is it stated what age the twins are by the end of the play? It is also trick as I see negative comments on Les Mis and other shows always having a young cast!

The crew for Spring 2022 Tour.
And before anyone starts - I care.
A production is nothing without its crew.

But totally agree … everything else has been re staged re imagined tweaked etc why not this Looked at through fresh eyes 👀 I posted a similar comment somewhere about 6 years ago and omg 😱 the abuse I got Just for saying would be nice to see a new set or less synthetic music and more like the original … I’m sure years ago I read or saw a pic of a foreign production with a collapsing house in the set Bham rep put out the fab what’s new pussycat recently love them to get there hands on it

Blood Brothers has been on the school's GCSE syllabus for years now, and whilst it's on there, it will continue to tour and to do very well when it does. Unfortunately.
I think what this long running production does, is show school kids what can be achieved in a very simple way with 1 basic set, some dramatic lighting cues and a hell of a lot of reverb. It is a great introduction to live theatre for many.
I've seen it probaably too many times now and only a brand new production could tempt me back to see it. But, for all the melodramatic moments (and i've seen some Mrs Lyons' go from nice to flat out crazy in seconds) the synths kind of work. I think a more 'realistic' approach these days wouldnt work as well as it does.
In the late 80's I went to see a UK tour of Blood Brothers at the Malvern Festival Theatre. I was so excited to see it again, but it was only when we got to the theatre that we realised it was the original play version, without the songs. I was not impressed.

I can think of many!! I have thought for ages about how I would like the music to be re-orchestrated into a more English folky style. No efffing synths and drum machines!!! In fact the production of Carousel at Regents Park last year created just the style I had in mind, but much more inventively. Was brilliant.

As good as always tonight in Windsor. It's been 19 years since this was my first every trip to the West End (school trip), and my second ever musical, and so it holds a special place in my heart.
Loved Nikki Evans as Mrs J, was nice to see someone new in the role alongside many familiar faces in the cast.
I've seen Blood Brothers 15 times now, can never pass on seeing it when it tours near me, and judging by the audience reaction again tonight it will continue to tour for many years to come.

I guess it shows the quality of the score, a real story and a great cast can still theatres and it doesn't need stunt casting or special effects to have a hit.

Glad you enjoyed it. Aah yes, new to me I meant. I had a ticket for London when Niki was in the show in London but saw her understudy Absolutely! At the heart of it the story and music is great. Always love it.
