Took a big group tonight and BK’s juggernaut keeps on rolling...Alex Patmore as the ‘new’ Mickey attacks the role with great energy and insight...from the awkwardness of the 7 year old Mickey through to the gritty portrayal of the unravelling of the character in Act 2,he nails the part and is a worthy successor to the brilliant Sean Jones.
Big shout out to Chloe Taylor who is now my favourite ever Mrs Lyons...really edgy and authentic as she descends into twisted madness.
Lyn Paul in tears at the end of TMINT and an instant SO.
This show could run forever.
On the coach home some members of the group felt that there were some changes to the orchestration and further exposition added in scenes towards the end of the show,compared to past visits to the show.
Always wonder why WR didn’t try to write more MT after the original success of this show.
Back next week with a different group.
Finally got a BB mug at the merch stall after trying to get my hands on one for years...was told it’s only just been added to the merch range.
10/10 as always!

Was going to see this tonight first time in 5 years and my 56 th time just to see Lyn as it’s her last tour ..... there’s no offers on and tickets are quite pricey .... tonight circle was less than half full and quite a few rear stalls seats but still cheapest seat around £35 restricted view most seats £40-50
Oh well another time

Bit of a situation going on in Derby - Alex Patmore cannot perform as Mickey, so his understudy Connor Bannister had his debut as Mickey last night, and to be on for the rest of the weekend.
During the first act this afternoon, Connor was also taken ill, and one of the other actors has stepped in, playing with script in hand. I'm guessing it is Shaun McCourt, who is understudy Eddie.
Which means he will have played both Eddie and Mickey in the same week, as he made his debut as Eddie earlier this week.
Not sure yet what the plan is for tonight.

Just lost a little of my excitement for seeing this in Dartford this week - just had a call from them saying that due to summer refurbishments my seat was being changed from central row B to right out on the end. When I said I wasn't happy the guy was full of the seat configuration etc changing, a need to move things around etc, I finally got through that I wasn't happy and got moved to central row A, the seat in front of the one I had booked originally, despite having been told the move was due to aisle seats being needed for access. I'm still an aisle seat one row further forward! To be honest I think I was moved because I had a single seat and it was easier for them, not expecting to get someone who regularly goes to the theatre and knows where she wants to sit, hence booking as soon as it was on sale. It wasn't the guy on the phone's fault, I feel sorry for him having to do all the work whilst an uncaring management sit back and expect it to just happen - and I did tell him that. I had a look and various extra seats have become available through the week - probably due to others not being happy. The Orchard will not be on my list of theatres to visit in future unless I'm desperate to see something and it's my only choice. I had planned possibly going on Thursday as well, they've lost that sale.
Good thing I love the show, and Lyn Paul, enough to know I'll still love the show.

^Good for you for sticking to your guns.Agree that it is not the poor box office staffers fault.Did that job as a student a lifetime ago and you get flack from all and sundry....verbal aggression and physical threats....and that was just the theatre management!! Lol

So: This week Dartford. Next week off (for the whole show, not just Lyn) From 3 December Sunderland. From 10 December Eastbourne. |

Bill Kenwright Ltd have now confirmed to a fan Lyn Paul will continue as Mrs Johnstone in Spring Tour 2020.
Delighted to see my personal favourite Mrs Johnstone continue, but they shouldn't have billed this last leg as her farewell-tour.
I understand theatre is a fickle business, and I don't blame her for taking work when offered.

I've compiled a list of every run Lyn Paul has had in Blood Brothers. I've also made a note of every time it's been publicly stated, either in a press release or by Lyn herself, that it'll be her final run. She's had what must be at least 7 different final runs, so I wouldn't be surprised if we got a farewell farewell tour in autumn 2020.
West End - April 1997 (3 week run before going out on tour)
UK Tour - 5th May to 20th September 1997
West End - October 1997 to July 1999 (10th anniversary of West End production on 28th July 1998. Emergency cover for Bernie Nolan on tour on 20th April 1998 and took 2 weeks out to play Mrs Johnstone at the Liverpool Empire in December 1998)
West End - October to 4th December 1999 (4th Dec billed as her "farewell performance")
West End - 7th to 12th August 2000 (holiday cover for Denise Nolan)
West End - 9th October to December 2000
West End - 15th January to 5th May 2001 (5th May is her "farewell performance")
West End - 25th to 30th March 2002 (holiday cover for Linda Nolan)

No, no, no, Kenwright makes out WE misunderstood. One fan from Yorkshire booked a whole weekend based on the fact (at the time) that Eastbourne would be her final dates. If it wasn't Lyn's last date, they wouldn't have booked it. Spent lots of money. I personally managed to get my train refunded, and could still cancel my hotel, but the theatre have been told by Kenwright not to refund the ticket-price to fans. Also, rumour has it now that not only is it Lyn's farewell goodbye farewell tour, but also the tour's farewell tour. Spring 2020 is only booked for 10 weeks so far, and other fans and I have not been able to find any dates after Lichfield in April. Usually there would be announcements from theatres by now 'Coming in September 2020...'. |

If it really is the tour Farewell then it does make more sense to stick with Lyn Paul. Personally I'm delighted as she's my ultimate Mrs J and the Spring dates have far more venues near me than this recent tour. As for Lyn, I'm sure she's meant it each time she's said no more but work is work when all's said and done and it must be flattering to know you're wanted back so often
