Quite likely - the worst leading lady performance I've seen, and I saw Bat Out Of Hell...

Does anyone know what happened to the filmed version of this? It’s the 30th anniversary of the animated movie later this year. My best guess is that they’re saving it to coincide with that. If that doesn’t happen then I have no clue when they’re going to release it

I loved the production when it was out a few years ago.

I wonder if this is based on the upcoming US tour which can accommodate smaller venues or the first US tour?

I wonder if this is based on the upcoming US tour which can accommodate smaller venues or the first US tour? Surely the upcoming US Tour. The original US Tour could only fit in very large venues. The UK tour will most likely use the virtual orchestra (Keycomp) system as well.

Strange Jade got casts if there has been comments about the quality of her voice for MT. I think she had only ever done one other show possibly Tonight's the Night before getting Aladdin.
It would be popular if it toured and could do large city theatres on initial tour so no need to downscale show really unless they have less ensemble.

Disney would want to bring the show to the highest number of venues, and could save a lot of money with a smaller set, a smaller cast and half the musicians. The Lion King tour sells out daily, and it still has a reduced set and band. Same with the Beauty and the Beast tour.

The difference is in the UK we have panto, if they downsize the staging too much then its going to draw comparisons and questions why they charging so much for basically a panto. The Lion King also isn't downsized to a noticeable extent.
If the US is going to get a downsized production then its possible the UK will get the orginal US touring set.

They will build a tour set for the UK, not ship the US over.

I don’t think they would want to compromise the production quality just so it could fit into more venues. The current Beauty and the Beast tour has only been able to ‘fit’ into larger venues. People expect a certain standard from Disney so they’ll make it as big as they can.

I expect Aladdin will more akin to the first Wicked tour or the second Mary Poppins tour which went a lot more places compared to The Lion King which really can go to the bigger venues.
We'll get an idea what the UK will be getting when the new US tour opens in October.

Beauty and the Beast is certainly playing the bigger venues this time as the show had got smaller on tour since it's Dominion days. Shows usually do the big City theatres and then look at going to secondary venues on later tours.
