The Indifferent My 1/2 above refers to Sharon D Clarke who just didn't seem to be fully invested. I don't think she can give a bad performance and her voice is a thing of beauty. And I acknowledge I am comparing her to Ms Pinkins which is unfair. But someone said in The Life thread hat she always plays herself (not an exact quote before the shrieking starts) and I really felt that yesterday. I didn't see Caroline Thibodeaux, I saw Sharon D Clarke Agree completely about SDC always playing herself. I thought she was completely unremarkable in Ghost and quite what that Olivier for Ma Rainey was about was beyond me. Case of the king's new clothes. Talented vocalist though but I've never seen her play anything differently.

Flipin brilliant this! Such a shame it's on in Chichester where there was a ridiculous about of walkouts in the interval. Go go go if u can before Saturday! Found out some fantastic gossip on the way home about some very famous 'straight' actors, why don't we have a cryptic gossip thread?!?

Saw this yesterday and loved it. The mix of Kushner, Clarke and Longhurst have made this one of my favourite shows of the year so far.
Does anybody know how I can get hold of a copy of the original Broadway soundtrack for less than £40 on Amazon? The spotify playlist does not work and it is not available on the UK Itunes or Dress Circle.

I caught the last matinee of this. I've never seen Sharon D. Clarke in anything before so I can't comment on whether she always plays the same part but I thought she was great in this.
I did find the first half rather slow and I wasn't sure whether I was enjoying but the second half really came to life and I loved it. About four or five no-shows in the audience after the interval but a standing ovation at the end.
