Finally got Oasis tickets… for New York! I’m sure I’ll fit a few shows in too.

As several people have noted, it is going to be ruinous for the Edinburgh Fringe, which is already incredibly expensive I don't think The Fringe Society realize quite how disastrous it is. This doesn't just affect a few days. This will affect thousands of performers who now can't get a room for a month due to those few days for the gigs already being booked. That being the case, how does the Fringe even happen properly next year? Will we see performers doing short runs in the weeks after the gigs? Short run in the first week then back for the end? As a huge stand up comedy fan I've always wanted to visit the Fringe and finally took the plunge and booked accommodation for next year (think I did this in April). £400 for 4 nights in a nice, well reviewed, heart of the city B&B which, whilst more than I'd generally pay for accommodation, didn't seem too awful by Fringe standards. Then Oasis announced their extra date on August 12 and I really just don't know if I fancy it anymore. So many comedians, performers and artists seem to be struggling to afford to do the festival now at the best of times, I just don't see how next year is going to be sustainable.

Although not in quite the same league as Oasis, tickets for famous Sheffield United fan Paul Heaton's homecoming gig at Bramall Lane went on sale this morning - all priced at £39.50 plus booking fee.
That's the way to do it. And there's support from Shed Seven and Lighting Seeds!

Also, in a similar vein, impressed at John Bishop for offering £25 tickets for his next tour.

I’d definitely rather see Paul Heaton than Oasis.
