My fashion taste must be sh*t as I thought the production (especially the costumes!) were absolutely stunning. Same here 🤣 I loved everything about this show in Plymouth and can't wait to see it again next week. I really hope it does well in London, but the comments on here do worry me. Oh well, I'll just carry on going and enjoying myself anyway 😂

More tickets released for a few preview and early Nov dates that I think were previously sold out… still nothing in rows A—C though so perhaps they’re not going to be sold. They must know sightlines by now!

I’ve booked! Going to the matinee on Nov 2nd, on the basis that if it’s terrible I can see something else in the evening to make it worth the trip.
FOMO got the better of me, and if I don’t like it from the front stalls I won’t like it from anywhere else in the vastness of the Dominion!

Had a tough time deciding between the sides for 52,5 vs central 69,5, but as I set my budget for 50 for this, went for the sides in the end 🙆♂️. Risky, but hopefully I’ll manage. Thanks for the quick info everybody! I was checking so much and of course they went on sale when I was on a few hours long trip home on the bus 😂 Going to the same performance, actually!

This has to be the worst idea for a musical ripped from a movie yet.
The film is a boring milky confection and now almost twenty years old. Seriously, who cares?

Oh no, I think it had the potential to be a great musical, because the characters in the film are SO good and the dialogue in the film is witty and iconic - it's just not found the right people to translate it to stage it seems.

That could be said about the vast majority of movies turned into musicals. That said, Devil Wears Prada has never seemed a film that would obviously sing well, or need singing at all.

In case it’s not been mentioned, Vanessa Williams is on The Graham Norton Show tonight, so will no doubt be discussing/plugging this.

It was up there with some of the best shows I’ve seen this year and definitely at Plymouth. I love the film and thought they did well not to make Andy’s chef bf a w*nker like in the film. I wish her friends were included but they didn’t really so much so understand. For the naysayers give it a shot. I would see it again but I would love to see Debbie as Miranda.

I've never really got the narrative about Andys bf being a dick in the film. He loves her for who she is, he sees she is being used and overworked by a toxic boss and that she is changing who she is and compromising her morals and dreams for something more shallow.
An expensive make over and a high flying job is not the be all and end all.

Completely bemused by this thread as to whether this show is amazing or abysmal.
Guess I may need to go and find out.
Or wait for a cast recording - anyone heard rumours on that? I generally like Elton's work on musicals.

I generally like Elton's work on musicals. Exactly my reasons for booking. Much as it’s great to hear what others think, the only way I’ll really know if I love it or hate it is to see it for myself, and I’m definitely a fan of Elton’s music (and his musicals) so decided this is a must see. Plus of course there’s always that sense of curiosity and desire to see it straight out of the blocks whilst it’s fresh and selling out.

Elton's songs, decent film, Vanessa Williams - I find it hard to believe it could be awful!

Having seen it in Plymouth. The set is great. Costumes fantastic. The leads have great vocals. Matt Henry steals the show.
However the songs aren’t very memorable, the script is poor & Vanessa Williams just can’t beat Meryl Streep. She looks incredible on stage. But I wanted more from her. And it never came.

As someone on TiTok pointed out, there's no hole in it, so that glam stiletto is going to be full of stagnant rainwater before you can say "That's all"

It’s quite nice to see a theatre marquee go the extra mile to attract attention. It’s very rarely the case these days.

Seats in rows A and B have been put up for sale for this week. They are cheaper with a restricted view warning. A video was posted this morning on instagram and the stage looks VERY high
