Seats in rows A and B have been put up for sale for this week. They are cheaper with a restricted view warning. A video was posted this morning on instagram and the stage looks VERY high Curious if the third row has some rake already, the stage looked very high indeed, hard to imagine the view being clear from the third row if it's flat. I don't know if I feel satisfied or not with my far side 3rd row vs central 2nd row for the same price, but to be fair, my seat didn't have the warning. |

Took a gamble and went front row for one of the previews just now. Seat Plan review for the front row at Dominion don't seem to be that bad, and the front row was okay for one of the times I saw Hello Dolly at the Palladium - logic is it's a similar theatre and production size.

Took a gamble and went front row for one of the previews just now. Seat Plan review for the front row at Dominion don't seem to be that bad, and the front row was okay for one of the times I saw Hello Dolly at the Palladium - logic is it's a similar theatre and production size. For previous shows at the Dominion, in front or row A was basically a wide aisle and the orchestra pit, which meant that the distance between row A and the stage was about 6-7meters. Now, for DWP they removed the orchestra pit and expended the stage right up row A. When I talked to somebody in the production a couple of weeks ago they told me that at that moment they were not even sure they were going to use row A (or remove it) because the height of the stage and how close you sit against it. The fact that they have not put them on sale beyond the preview-performances probably mean they are just testing the water and are going to wait for some audience members to share their experience with it. |

They sold front row for The Time Traveller's Wife initially and removed it after a few weeks. The stage was so high and the seats so close you missed so much of the show. Be interesting to see what happens with this. It's very expensive after previews so cheaper options are good, but not if you miss most of it |

very sleek, earworm after earworm (more Act 1 than Act 2), cast in great form and just generally a super fun night out! didn't research the pre-broadway run or watch the plymouth run, was surprised it was so much more beyond the expected (and well-executed) movie references/quotes- I quite enjoyed it!

I went last night and it was entertaining. I felt like Emily stole the show, she brought the laughs and had the best song IMO.
I'd definitely go see it again.

Saw the matinee today. Sat in B20 in the stalls and for £55 I paid it was a steal! Overall I thought it was a really fun show that felt like it really honoured the movie. The cast across the board were excellent with some really impressive vocals. Vanessa Williams commanded the audience. She got entrance applause. She got exit applause. She got entrance applause when it wasn’t even her.
Some people have been complaining about the costumes but I thought they looked great. And the various fashion moments they had throughout the show were wonderful.

This is a really great night out, lots of fun, mostly true to the film. The actress playing Emily is fantastic, the one playing Andie delivers everything note perfect but feels a bit MT central casting (fault of the character rather than the actor I think). Nate, as with the film, feels like he's draining the energy when he's on. Again not the fault of the actor but the script. His voice is almost identical to Elton John's which does work well though. Vanessa Williams is a superb Miranda. Not so much of an ice queen as Meryl Streep but perhaps even more withering because of that.
The set is really impressive, especially Paris. The staging is lush though I'm not sure having the actors awkwardly navigate the orchestra pit built into it is a sensible creative choice. Really liked the choreo, particularly in the hot nurses and Paris numbers.
I have one major complaint to make. Where oh where was the iconic line...

How To Survive At Runway having 3 reprises in Act 1 doesn't bode well... Why? The whole first act is literally about Andi trying to survive her new job. Flipping between wanting to quit, wanting to stay to prove a point, thinking she’s going to be fired and ultimately winning her bosses approval and being invited to Paris. If I remember rightly I’m pretty sure one of the reprises was just a couple of lines whilst a scene transitioned. |
