Sorry to be a bit dense here but is the hot ticket deal restricted to students/ concessions etc? When I put in the code the cheap offers come up with the designation Culture 1. I don't want to buy one and then get challenged at the theatre for some sort of ID etc. to prove that I am entitled to the deal. Thanks in advance.

The Culture 1 tickets are the £20 ones (generally the blue dots/seats). In the link above the code has been accepted. It's available for everybody.

Saw this with my Mum and really enjoyed it. I think it's much tighter this time than it was last December. Stephen Tompkinson is very good as Scrooge, different from Rhys Ifan but still gives a strong performance.

Seeing this for the third time, with my mum. So far i has prefer Rhys Ifan’s but Tompkinson is still good
I think Hugh Grant is in the audience, dressed as if he’s in one of his Paddington 2 costumes

Went this afternoon and loved it. Packed with school parties who were crazily noisy but in a good way. Saw Stephen Tomkinson on the tube a few weeks back and realised that he is now a man in his 50s (ie. my age) not the young man he was in Ballykissangel or Drop The Dead Donkey! But the energy he displays in this is that of a much younger man, jumping off the stage and dancing with glee. I was in the side of the stage seats so got the full quota of snow!
Many thanks again to those who alerted me on this board to the HOTTICKET deal. £20 very well spent.

Saw it the other day and it was fabulous, moving and fun. Oh, and lovely to see Nicola Hughes again too, she’s always great.

My parents saw it this week, and are still babbling that Scrooge shook hands with both of them and wished them "Merry Christmas." They only went because I said it was good. Now they want to see it again if it comes back next year. it better not. its ruddy lovely, but 3 years on the trot is a bit much surely? Unless they transfer it into town, or to a regional venue?

You are correct of course, i just think it would be shame to not have something new & potentially equally magical and christmas-y... but yes, they need all the money they can get considering the rest of their programming/people still boycotting due to the lack of board action re spacey.

Having seen the previous productions was going to give this year’s a miss, with @theatremonkey , he has the ability to potentially bring a different angle, now tempted to see again.

Ah good, my favourite Brutus in Julius Caesar. Good enough reason to see this for the fourth time
Prices have gone up though so I'm going to wait for offers. There were plenty of tickets available in January during the last run

Saw him when he first started out. Always has been a brilliant actor. Looking forward to this even more now!

He's got that "serious, but something underneath him" vibe. Think I know what you mean...

So having been quite rightly told off for posting about this somewhere else...I’m here asking if it would scare a sensitive nine yr old who couldn’t cope with the Kidman character in Paddington 1. Serial Shusher says there is a dark character. Is it one of the ghosts/ or all of the ghosts?

Serial Shusher says there is a dark character. Is it one of the ghosts/ or all of the ghosts? Marley is pretty creepy. The other ghosts are ethereal. It has its dark moments but the joyous ending and redemption is the abiding memory. And the beautiful music/singing. I took my daughters to the first production in 2017. My youngest was 6 1/2. She was fine but she has been familiar with theatre from an early age. Shes also super sensitive. Take the 9 year old - they will love it! And then book for Local Hero at the OV next summer, cos it's great!

Serial Shusher says there is a dark character. Is it one of the ghosts/ or all of the ghosts? I've seen it both years and don't recall anyone being 'evil', but there are creepy moments, ghostly characters and so on. I think sometimes kids respond to people being actively malicious, which I guess more applies to Scrooge, who isn't scary, just miserly as you'd expect.

I didn't find it scary at all and there aren't any loud noises in the production.
There is a moment when it gets gradually louder and louder until it couldn't possibly get any louder but the noise isn't sudden.

lynette I went to a matinee performance in January which was packed full of children - primary and secondary age. They all clearly loved it - I think it would be a pretty safe bet for a nine year old. Overwhelmingly joyful.
