Thanks again to Crowblack for posting the code for the previews. £5 was the best bargain ever.
I really enjoyed the show - the reconfigured Old Vic was far more effective than the usual proscenium staging. The "joyous" bits were very well done, and very much in the tradition of getting the audience involved. It was certainly very snowy in the stage seats! Lovely bell ringing, decent (not outstanding) acting.

We saw this just before Christmas and it will be one of our hilights of the year. We sat in row M adjacent to the main walkway area. Initially I thought we would struggle with sight lines but with the clever way they have angled the seats so always looking upwards we had a fantastic view of everything going on. Loved the free mince pies and the being snowed upon. And the wife got the added bonus of Rhys shaking her hand during his "happy" transformation.

Not sure whether to own up to agreeing with Parsley on this. (not the panto bit)
Saw it before Christmas on the glowing reviews here, wanted to love it, left me rather cold. (not due to the blizzard)
Rhys Ifans was brilliant, found the updated backstory, forced jollity and the underplayed transition underwhelming. Rhys Ifans in a Muppets Christmas Carol (staged) would be close to perfection.
Unsure what to make of the Old Vic at the moment, not interested in any of the 2018 season and the plays will need great reviews to pique my interest.

I was seated between two middle-aged men yesterday and they must have suffered from severe conjunctivitis - both of them were sobbing in the 2nd act. And so was I, actually. A virus, I'm sure...
Seriously though, I loved it. It's Christmassy, it's heartwarming, there are lanterns, there are bells, there are sprouts, there's snow, there's a lovely child, what else could you need? And then there's Rhys Ifans. It was the first time I've ever seen him on stage and I was impressed with his charisma. I even went to the stage door (which I do very rarely because I never know what to say and eventually I just stare with a silly/disturbing grin) - what a charming man he is. And how tall. And he wished me a happy new year. Oh. I'll stop now. Off to watch "The Boat That Rocked".

I utterly loved this! It had me in floods of tears. What a treat. So glad I decided to see it after reading everyone’s comments here.

^ It is a treat, isn’t it? (And poor parsley left at the interval... ) I really hope it returns in December, as I’d love to see it again!

With over a week left to run, the Evening Standard reported last week that the audience collection has already raised £70,000 for Field Lane.

Not sure whether to catch this in its last week. Am I right in thinking only TodayTix/GILT for a discount?

Not sure whether to catch this in its last week. Am I right in thinking only TodayTix/GILT for a discount? I've heard the box office is selling basically all seating for £30 as day seats. TodayTix is reducing a lot of good seats to the same price, haven't looked at GILT but would presume similar. On the strength of the TB reviews I'll grab a ticket and head to this tonight - feel free to join!

Just wanted to pop back and say it was a solid five stars. Bearing in mind I knew the story, I surprisingly was really touched, and had a proper cry. Really beautifully done in all parts, and the snowing was great. This should come back every year.

Last night, my second time back after my preview visit. I think I loved it even more if that's at all possible. Tiny Tim we had Lenny Rush, the little person, and you could hear hearts breaking. Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. The exchange between Tiny Tim and Ebeneezer at the end was glorious. Sobbed buckets.

Dear Parsley is firmly in the minority here in not loving this... all is right in the world!
Well, maybe not.

One of the real surprises of the season and a glory on every level -- also one of the very best things Warchus has ever done. Yes yes yes bring it back annually ! We need it, trust me, in these grim, grey times.

So excited! I caught onto last year’s hype far too late and by the time I wanted to see it I was too late (Christmas activities don’t sit well with me in January).

I’m in, as long as Rhys Ifans isn’t back (which seems unlikely right now)

Meh - I went early January and loved it so much, perhaps the best thing I saw that month. Never let convention deter you from a good thing!
Normally I wouldn't be best pleased with a theatre like the Old Vic recycling a seasonal show but this was so flipping good I'm going to allow it. I'm going to go and take people with me and share the magic.
