Way too much obvious cgi, and the 3 leads all look their 30+ years. More of a wait for streaming I think Everyone is entitled to their opinion. If you fee you'd prefer to wait for streaming, that's fine, that will free up a seat for someone who is anxiously awaiting the chance to see it in the theatre! Lol wicked fans just can't handle an opposing opinion can they

The way I see it, If I can watch Stockard Channing playing a high schooler in Grease, then I can certainly watch Cynthia Erivo playing a young green witch in a fantasy land. ♫ There are worse things I could do than play teen at thirty-two... ♫

I admit, I really liked the trailer but it's the second part that worries me as Act 2 of Wicked is weaker than Act 1 but apparently they're expanding it. Best songs are in Act 1 as well.

I still don’t understand how DG is a satisfactory ending to the first film. It’s a very satisfactory ending to Act 1 of the show because you go into the interval eager to come back in 20 minutes to see what happens but imagine leaving at the interval? Nothing is resolved. I don’t get it.

And have an interval in the film. Sell some ice creams. Perfect!

I don’t get it. If they do it right, I would think it will feel like the ending of the first Dune, which seemed to hit the mark. They will have more time than the stage show to heighten the tension of Elphaba's deciding to leave and head out on her own, paving the way for part two to open up with her in the more established 'Wicked Witch' era.

The Wizard And I and Defying Gravity are certainly the Act 1 bangers, but I do think they will be able to do a lot cinematically with No Good Deed and For Good in particular. Could throw As Long As You're Mine in there as well.

Im getting an insane number of Wicked trailer reaction videos in my YouTube feed. People are losing their sh*t because Elphaba has some different hairstyles 🙄
Is this trailer reaction thing normal for all big movie releases now? This s a new world to me.

So I have watched this a trailer a couple of times and have some observations.
Firstly, this looks lush and expanded in a way that they could never do on stage.
For the students at Shiz University, the costumes seem similar to the stage production.
There is obviously some sort of back story for Elphabah, as we see her as a little green girl. Possibly when she's explaining why Nessarose is in the wheelchair.
We also see a burning effigy; presumably for The March of the Witch Hunters.
We also see a glimpse of Dr. Dillamond. It would be interesting to see the way that he and Elphabah communicate and sing Something Bad.
The set up for Popular is there, with Elphabah having long, braided hair. In fact, I think it's underscored.
I do wonder about Michelle Yeoh. I have no doubt if her acting abilities however it's the singing. Now, I do appreciate the character doesn't sing in the manner of others in this story but I'm guessing where required, she'll 'Rex Harrison sing-speak'?
It's all looking very promising!
I've no doubt that theatre geeks around the world are hyperventilating with excitement as much as we are.

I was showing a friend the trailer and I asked her who was playing Madame Morrible. She said "oh she is really famous" and reeled off a long list of things she has been in. I looked at her blankly and said that i had never heard of any if them. Just shows you how often I go to the cinema!

The arrangements sound different to the songs featured in the trailer, well the snippets you can here. Will be interesting to see how they differ to those we know.

I wish they wouldn’t mess with arrangements & try and make things ‘current’ like some of the ghastly ‘Mean Girls’ soundtrack. Erivo’s voice sounds fine, but it does appear to be more soul roar than mt belt.

@bobbievanhussen has Fiyero been cut from One Short Day? We’ve seen multiple/different parts from the scene and he hasn’t appeared in any. You have seen maybe 3 seconds of One Short Day and not heard a note of it.
You'd think Boq and Nessarose have been cut out entirely given the amount of screen time they're getting in the trailers.

Still not sure about it, it just looks very odd to me. I still think Cynthia looks too mature, and Ariana a bit too cold.

Ariana especially passes for younger, and well Elphaba is Green so 🤷♂️ the one who I think comes off worst is Jonathan Bailey who really does look older. I saw someone query if he was actually meant to be a teacher.

Ethan Slater is going to look odd as a student as well, it's like a reverse Zendaya in Challengers, she could pull the 18 year old Tashi Duncan but not when she was the 30 something Tashi Duncan.

I've got SUCH a bug bear with modern movie trailers using the same escalating epic music - AND most modern musical movies will then fit the vocals of their songs over the top of it. This trailer does it VERY noticeably during "Popular", arranging the vocals so that they fit over this new music. I noticed this about 4-5 years ago and think it's caught my ear in every musical trailer since!

Just watched yet another reaction video where it was pointed out that the opening lines of the trailer where Glinda says “Are people born wicked…” the voice sounds exactly like Kristin Chenowith and now I can’t not hear it.

Ariana seems like she might have been the sort of girl who spent years singing along to and mimicking the OBC. And she's now landed a role it sounds like she loves, so good for her! (I think she looks cold in a physical sense in some of those pictures, like she needed a cardi. I'm not sure filming outdoors in January in Buckinghamshire would have been much fun temperature-wise!)
