The thing is, I don’t doubt her talent. Her voice isn’t the problem for me. It’s her personality and to some extent her appearance. What about her appearance offends you? Already explained above - she looks a lot older than Ariana Grande, and she's also odd looking in a way that just doesn't fit Elphaba for me. I can see why someone might like the look for Elphaba, but it doesn't work for me. It's a personal thing, I get that not everyone will agree and that's fine. We all imagine different things.

Still no mention that it’s Part One.

Still no mention that it’s Part One. I have a feeling that they’re not going to call it part one. This one will simply be Wicked. And then the second one will have a subtitle.

I watched this on my mobile at the bus stop.
Amazing in not strong enough.
I’m gonna quote Evan Hansen “Words fail!”

Yep I’m fully on board with this now. That trailer is perfection. The production design actually feels far more ‘real’ than the original teaser trailer implied. And it’s obvious that there are going to be some softer moments to it which could potentially be far more impactful than the stage version manages to achieve.

Way too much obvious cgi, and the 3 leads all look their 30+ years. More of a wait for streaming I think

Have to admit I was a bit emotional just watching the clip. Looks stunning. Defiantly one to see in the cinema rather than at home.

I really like the look of this. There's some beautiful design work there.
Although I do agree that some of them look far too old. Hopefully suspension of disbelief will kick in when you're watching the whole thing.

@bobbievanhussen has Fiyero been cut from One Short Day? We’ve seen multiple/different parts from the scene and he hasn’t appeared in any.

The way I see it, If I can watch Stockard Channing playing a high schooler in Grease, then I can certainly watch Cynthia Erivo playing a young green witch in a fantasy land.

Both Idina and Kristin were in over 30 when they created the roles, and it worked, so I can suspend disbelief, especially since they do magic and there are Munchkins, so it's not really grounded in reality.

(I could be entirely wrong but) is he in One Short Day on stage? My recollection is that he turns up unexpectedly at the station to see Elphabah off to the Emerald City. This is the first inkling that Glinda has that something might be going on between them. Then the two girls head off together. They then see Wisomania where those minion things come out. But I don't remember Fiyero being in the Emerald City in the One Short Day sequence. Again, I could be wrong.

I have loved the videos that have been released over the last couple of days. I welled up during the ‘Passion Project’ video and had goosebumps during today’s trailer. The film looks amazing, and I can’t wait to see it. WICKED holds a special place in my heart.

Potential spoiler territory I suppose, but I haven't been following along with any behind the scenes info. Is the film going to end with Defying Gravity to replicate that first act of the stage show? Would be mad not to, surely.

They were much further away though. I think it will be fine when I see the whole thing (like with Grease), it's just the school bit that jars slightly at the moment!

I’ve only seen Wicked once, years ago on tour. I wanted to see it because I liked Winnie Holzman’s short-lived TV show My So-Called Life, but was very underwhelmed. Nice enough, but didn’t get why it was as huge as it is.
That trailer though really made me want to see this.

I admit, I really liked the trailer but it's the second part that worries me as Act 2 of Wicked is weaker than Act 1 but apparently they're expanding it.

If you fee you'd prefer to wait for streaming, that's fine, that will free up a seat for someone who is anxiously awaiting the chance to see it in the theatre!
