Off to see this this afternoon, having played the ATG dynamic pricing game all week, checking and checking and watching the prices drop - I guess there is a ceiling of what people are prepared to pay after all. I managed to get centre row A of the dress circle for £85 this morning, the same seat they’re routinely packaging with a couple of glasses of Veuve and a cheeseboard for £305!
Enjoy. That's the seat I also got for £85 and I thought it was a perfect spot.

Thank you, it was! I was tempted by some front stalls seats popping up at the same price but having sat in a fair few spots during Come From Away’s run I know there’s very little rake in the front few rows so didn’t want to risk it being ruined if I was sat behind someone tall and/or large. I got A12 in the dress circle in the end, which was great - no heads obviously and still plenty close enough. Really enjoyed the play - intense in places but the three leads (I know Stella is technically a supporting role) were very strong. I thought Patsy was fantastic, but I did feel her looking so young slightly detracted from Blanche’s ‘washed-up’ situation - but the conviction in her acting definitely made up for it. It’s very much her play, far more than Stanley’s, even though Paul’s the main attraction in box office terms. Very glad I went as my FOMO was kicking in and with other commitments and other shows booked, this weekend was one of my few chances to get there to see it. |

Email just received - two extra shows on sale from midday today (so now!) - Mon 1st and Tues 2nd May.
Email claims that 72% of the seats being released are under £100 - with a total of 340 available for £37.50 or less.

The demand is there - just not at £200+ (unsurprisingly!) |

I always assumed one of the leads had a prior commitment that meant they couldn’t do the show on those dates, as it was originally due to end the West End run on 29th April, but then that final week was added. Perhaps that was the case and something’s changed so they’ve been able to put them on sale. |

This is excellent, as pretty much everyone has said. A mid-week matinee in the school holidays - lovely to see so many teenagers there! A shame they only came on for the one bow at the end; for that amount of applause they could have had three. I always feel slightly let down when I haven't been able to clap for as long as the show deserved. I know they're knackered, but audiences do like to show their appreciation.

I finally saw this on Thursday night and was seriously impressed with the acting of the leads. Patsy Ferran was utterly sublime, Anjana Vasan excellent and Paul Mescal really is a wonderful actor (I thought his scene with Noma Dumezweni in Normal People was one of the best acted I'd ever seen, and he cemented that for me here in such a vastly different role).
I agree about the bows, couldn't believe it was all over so quickly. I know it's a very different play but this had so much more oomph and clarity than last year's The Glass Menagerie.
On another note, the Phoenix has certainly the spookiest looking old auditorium in the West End. Very atmospheric.

I finally saw this on Wednesday and absolutely loved it. As others have noted it is brilliantly acted, and the relationships given real depth. Patsy Ferran gave Blanche such richness and complexity ( and some humour) I could really see in this production glimpses of the person she could have been, the life she maybe could have had, which of course add to the tragedy. I found I had tears in my eyes at the end without realising.

It’s been mentioned earlier in the thread but for those of you wanting to see this for cheap, and don’t mind standing, being one of the first thirty and playing the glow stick gamble will guarantee you at least a standing spot. Even if you aren’t one of the first thirty it’s worth sticking around, many people were handing back their glowsticks and not taking a standing spot (myself included). I’ll try again on Thursday but definitely worth considering.
(There were 31 people here today, so one person didn’t get to enter).

Second attempt today for the matinee - I WON! So did the lady I teamed up with so in essence we won 4 tickets. To say we couldn’t give the extra glow stick away fast enough is an understatement.

Saw this on Easter Monday and then went on holiday the nex day. Really loved this production of my favourite ever play. I loved Gillian Anderson in the role, who made me ugly-cry. But Vassan's made Stella stand out, something I've seldom seen before. Mescal's Stanley was horrifying: petulant, territorial and malevolent wielder of abuse in the cause of dominance. And Patsy Ferran as Blanche was heart-rending, all her talent and passion curdled by a society honed to eliminate all such threats.
Music and staging also spot on. Paper moon keeps crashing my internal jukebox, even now.
Rebecca Frecknall, what a phenomenon.
Was in stalls N4 and 5. Slight dress circle overhang didn't block the musicians' balcony in any way.

How mature/explicit is this production? Was thinking of bringing a preteen.
I am familiar with the play and its subject matter. But curious how the production handles it.

I wouldn’t say there was anything graphically depicted on stage if that’s what you mean? The rape for example is portrayed by the group of males surrounding Blanche, using movement and light.
But as you know the content itself is obviously quite traumatic. And the underlying violence of Stanley is always there in this production.
I found it very affecting - more than others I have seen but absolutely loved it.

Personally I think pre teen is possibly too young to get much out of it ( and the first half is long) and/or if they do get something could be a bit disturbed? But as you say you know the play and you know the pre teen!
