Got the same email and basically thought how ridiculous it all sounds. What’s wrong with a normal day seat queue or a TodayTix lottery?!
Would have assumed they’d decided to do something different to avoid crowd safety issues if the Mescal-fanbase turn up en masse, but can’t see how this avoids that!
I think I’ll stick to checking ATG for a decent return at a price that doesn’t require a mortgage application.

Can anyone who has gone please say whether they are selling merchandise?

That’s all a bit convoluted isn’t it? Glow sticks? We at a disco now?
Hope the Vatican takes note for when they next need to choose a new Pope. Smoke out of a chimney is so last century. "Would all the Cardinals please pick up a glow stick. At the count of 10 if yours glows, guess what? Pope time, baby."

Agree the glow sticks bit sounds unnecessary but they do have also have a weekly lottery you can sign up for here streetcarwestend.com/lottery/

This is really wasteful and sounds like something from a rather cruel children's party.

Aw come on. It is a game of chance. No more cruel than if you and your friends each buy a lottery ticket and scratch them off together.

What’s wrong with whoever gets there first gets the tickets? I mean it’s a bit sad if you queue from 3am and then don’t get a ticket and the 30th person in the queue does? Neither one thing or the other. They need to pick a sensible method and then go for it!

Can anyone who has gone please say whether they are selling merchandise? I was at the matinee on Saturday and they were only selling programmes. I saw a few members of staff wearing "Streetcar West End" badges but didn't see them for sale anywhere.

Anyone think any last minute tickets will come back on ATG? I saw a few £85 over the last few days but they seem to come on a few days before…?

It's not the same as a bunch of friends popping in to the corner shop though.

Nor is it the same as a bunch of children who know each other well at a party.

Anyone know what the dress circle boxes are like?

Loved the acting. Like the director's vision and concept. Felt a bit heavy-handed, particularly the repeated rain and the drummer.
First row dress circle on the center aisle was a perfect spot for this production and the safety bar was never an issue.

Does anyone know how high the stage is for this production? Have been front row at the Phoenix for both Come From Away and Noises Off and had a very different view for both so just wondering how this compares.

I can't speak to the stage height, but most of the production is played on a raised square platform centered on the stage. If I recall correctly the platform was two steps up from the stage floor.

My first time seeing Streetcar, knowing only 'stella!!!' and the last line. I thought it was well acted but I didnt really like the direction/concept (I guess?) also the drums were odd and didnt make me feel like we were in New Orleans but somewhere completely different.
The Phoenix might be one of the best theatres in terms of seats, especially looking on seatplan where nearly all seats are green. my back row of the grand for £15 was absolutely fine! For the most part you could hear everyone, only sometimes did their accents get too think and you just could not make out anything other than a southern drawl.

I thought this was very well acted but I agree the production lacked something for me. The drummer didn't add anything in particular and felt like a bit of a novelty. I knew very little about Patsy Ferran and Anjana Vasan prior to this but I have to say I was very impressed with both of their performances as well as Paul Mescal's. They had great chemistry together.
I think I still preferred the Young Vic production with Gillian Anderson, Vanessa Kirby and Ben Foster but this version is also well worth a watch.

Had Patsy and Rebecca not won the Olivier fairly recently (Patsy for Best Actress for Summer and Smoke and Rebecca winning Best Director for Cabaret), Streetcar would have swept all awards!!

Or rather you know, Jodie Comer with her superlative reviews and Totoro with all its awards haul and praise helmed by McDermott would have won anyway, and would have deserved to do so?

Jodie definitely deserved her win and so were the Totoro team. Though I would have thought that Totoro could have submitted for Best New Play. But I would prefer to divide the technical and crafts categories for plays and musicals, similar to the Tonys. They should bring back a separate Best Director for Musicals and Plays (it might be tricky for the Comedies and Family Shows but there aren’t a lot of them compared to the Dramas), Lighting Design of a Play and Lighting Design of a Musical, etc. And to separate the Orchestrations and New Score.

Off to see this this afternoon, having played the ATG dynamic pricing game all week, checking and checking and watching the prices drop - I guess there is a ceiling of what people are prepared to pay after all.
I managed to get centre row A of the dress circle for £85 this morning, the same seat they’re routinely packaging with a couple of glasses of Veuve and a cheeseboard for £305!
