Looks like Kieran Alleyne the current Alternate MJ may be off with an injury, so they've flown in another former broadway cast member Aramie Payton to be Alternate MJ until the 12th of June.

Wow, they’ve really struggled with the cast for this, haven’t they? I’m sure it’s not easy or cheap to relocate performers from the US.

Another show cancellation for tonight due to cast illness.

My friend will be just... slightly disgruntled.
Shouldn't we be checking the Prince Edward for asbestos in the walls at this point? Or for some kind of Phantom?

They’ve dodged a bullet. Hope they’ve found tickets for something a bit more worthwhile and enjoyable.

This show does have a habit of cancelling when everyone gets up there it seems. I really wish things could be more prompt but I know circumstances change just like that.

Is it always just that they've run out of Michael Jacksons? I guess the role puts a huge strain on most guys' voices with the high pitch and placement.

Does anyone know when Myles Frost's last performance is?

If that really is an issue, there is nothing to stop them from a few subtle transpositions in order to reduce vocal strain. No one will notice if the songs are not all in the original keys. And if they do, so what? This is a stage show - liberties can be taken particularly to protect performers.

Yes true, but I suppose it's the whole performance isn't it? Speaking as well as singing. People expect to hear that distinctive voice.

A lot is lip synced at the moment (if you have sat front few rows you do notice this) as it is, I actually think the cast dispositions are due to physical injury rather than vocal

Went last night having enjoyed it in New York. The dancing and energy certainly wasn't as high as it had been when I saw it there. It's a fun show for enjoying the music and choreography but as a musical the book is dreadful. The seeming lack of "punchiness", I'm not sure.

I went on Wednesday.
For me, that's an easy recommendation for anyone who'd consider themselves even a slight fan of Michael Jackson. Miles Frost nails the speaking and singing voice of MJ as well as his mannerisms. I was also really impressed by Ashley Zhangazha who plays MJ's father and Rob his manager. He was able to switch between the two characters in a split second.
The whole stage set design was also really well done. There was times when I blinked my eyes and the whole stage had just transformed into a different location. Sure, a lot of it was lightening and a big screen, but sets like New York and the Thriller sets were really quite impressive.

Yes - It felt like there were a lot of problems with cancelations and cast availability...

I don’t know about cancellations but looking this week it certainly not selling well in peak tourist season. I expect this to be gone and will be staggered if this last past New Year.

If it does close, then i feel for the cast and crew. I hope for something 'better' to replace it but who knows what fresh hell will come next

I didn’t like MJ and would go as far to say that I preferred Thriller, I didn’t really like that one much either but Thriller had more heart. Nothing about MJ wowed me apart from Miles Frost.
So seems like the Prince Edward is either a destination for Disney or Jukebox shows, it would be great if something like Some Like It Hot, Beetlejuice or Water for Elephants came over.

They’d send me a poll a few days ago. The questions were about what I liked and what I disliked. Never had a poll mailed weeks after I visited a show. Thought, that it may not sell well at the moment, cause of that mail.

Some like it Hot would be a perfect show for the Prince Edward (it was in fact there years ago in a different version)- but it would die a death I fear.
I’m keeping my fingers crossed that Death Becomes Her is a hit in NYC and that may come over and slip into the PE!
