I liked the livestream of this, but do we think they will have expanded into a full-length show for this? From what I remember, the livestream was quite short

I remember doing a gunpowder plot musical in high school which had some good songs. Bang! I think was the title. I was stuck in the chorus because my voice had just broken ☹️. In fact all the leads were played by girls that year if I remember rightly.

Just looked it up karloscar. I was so hoping that Bang! was a Lionel Bart (because, of course, he did Twang!!). But I see that it is by John Rutter and is described as 'Part musical, part opera, the work is full of vivid music, frolicking choruses and memorable solo songs. Any school with even fairly limited musical and dramatic resources could undertake a performance.' My own school performance memories focus on Noah and His Floating Zoo by Joseph Horovitz. About four and a half decades later I am still word perfect in sections of it!

Ah oxfordsimon I see you are afflicted in the same way! I cannot walk past York Hall in Bethnal Green - where we performed the piece for our parents some time in the mid 1970s - without singing a quick chorus!

🎶 Wheeeeen... Jonah sank into the sea he closed his eyes and prayed, "Oh Lord I'm very sorry that your word I've disobeyed. And if you'll only come and save me then I'll do as you command, Instead of treading water, let me tread upon the land." 🎶

I still like it! But I prefer Rooster Rag and Jonah Man Jazz! I remember singing "Jonah Man Jazz" at school in late 1960s. It was still being sung in the early 80s. I remember being obsessed with this score! "I need a boat, man. That'll carry me awaaaaay.."

I had high hopes for this. Quite like 'take things into our own hands' but the other two were quite forgettable

Carrie did a live acoustic performance of one of the songs from the show on Magic -
I don’t want to sound horrible here as I say this in the most constructive way as someone who definitely roots for Carrie, but does she sound quite strained on this to anyone else?
I hope she was just having a bit of an off day or is maybe a bit out of practice since being holiday, and the vocal issues she had during Cinders hasn’t caused any permanent damage. Her technique isn’t the best, but I seen her discussing working with a vocal coach on sm the other day so that’s definitely a good thing.
I agree with what others have said though, none of the songs I’ve heard particularly make me want to see this, but Michael Hamway was incredible when I seen him as alternate Sebastian last year, so I may go to see it on that strength.

I know new shows are to be commended.. but all I think when I see and hear this is Why? I really don’t think audiences want these kinds of shows anymore.

Personally this does appeal in terms of story and setting, plus I love the artwork. But chf puts me off completely seeing the concert, and the music I've heard so far hasn't grabbed me yet And yes that performance from Carrie does feel very strained. Mind you she sounded the same singing the big notes in bad cinderella

Mind you she sounded the same singing the big notes in bad cinderella This is true, and she was practically shouting her way through the score with no technique on the majority of Cinders shows I seen. I’m concerned for her that she’s going to very prematurely lose her voice, her vocal coach is obviously teaching her healthier ways to sing but she doesn’t seem to actually be applying it to her performances in my opinion.

This is possibly going to sound a lot more defensive than I intend, but: what kind of shows do you mean? Historical shows with sappy unmemorable songs. Not sure how an audience is supposed to connect with this story at all. I may be wrong and it’s an incredible show- but nothing about it is appealing to me.

Weirdly I love musicals in a historical setting. In fact, many of the most successful musicals of all time (and my favourites) fit that criteria. Les Mis, Phantom of the Opera, Miss Saigon, Evita, Jesus Christ Superstar…
In short, I’d rather this than yet another angsty teens shouting musical (I’m looking at you Spring Awakening, Jagged Little Pill)

Oh dear. Don’t like the vocals on this at all. Maybe it was filmed early in the morning? She sounds like she’s having trouble
