It worked! Managed to book the better seats! I'll be in C16 instead of V6!

Do we think the Original London Cast will go to Broadway with it? Of course not all of them but the main lot (Granger-Weasleys, Potters and Malfoys?), especially the award winners

It would be weird to hear any of them with American accents. Even Americans would find it weird, surely?!

Well, I'VE DONE IT! At 22 years old, it shamed me to admit that I had never, ever read any of the Harry Potter books. But I had tickets to Cursed Child and I wanted my enjoyment of the play to extend beyond my knowledge and enjoyment of the films, so, in a case where having to book so far in advance came in handy, I set myself the challenge of reading them all before seeing the play and, over these past 9 months (with considerable breaks between books because of life etc) I have done so, completing Deathly Hallows today in preparation for seeing both parts of Cursed Child this Sunday, with levels of excitement now almost at 'peeing-my-pants'!!!! Bring it on!!!

Bring it on!!! Did you enjoy them? It was torture waiting for the next book at times. But in hindsight JKR did pretty well - whereas over on A Song of Ice and Fire, it's 6 years and counting for the next instalment. But I digress... Ah yes - I didn't even say!! haha. I enjoyed them immensely. On a tangent, I was worried that reading & loving the books would dampen my love of the films but they didn't, really. I actually saw Philosopher's Stone in concert with a live orchestra at the Royal Albert Hall last weekend and it really was, for want of a better word, magical, and it really reminded me how much I really do the love films and how much of a part of my childhood they actually were. By the time they were all released in 2011 they had taken up over half of my live! I guess you have to view them as two separate entities and the films really are adaptations. Some better than others, but totally respectable as a series, in my opinion. But back to the books and they really are just wonderful and would does become all-consuming! They are vividly imaginative and I just love how JK's writing gets more and more sophisticated and 'grown up' as she knows her audience is also growing up with her. She really challenges the audience and doesn't make it too easy, but I found all the various pay-offs to be more than worth it. I would find it near-impossible to choose a favourite, or even least favourite for that matter, but maybe as I read them all in quick succession and not, as you say, with pain-staking gaps between them, they seemed more like one complete story. I have the script of Cursed Child so looking forward to actually reading it after seeing it, too.

So last night I discovered the average* teenage girl's reaction to seeing Jamie Parker play Harry Potter is to flee to the toilets at the interval and start sobbing hysterically on a friend.
Never have I been happier to be 41 and secure in the knowledge that there are far more pleasurable responses to Parker as Potter. ;-)
*may be employing mild hyperboly but you get the idea

Have to say I'm disappointed that this cast won't be the cast on film. Yes Noma mumbles a bit but I'd love it if they filmed it with this lot rather than watching D-Rad trying to emote with his teeth throughout.
If they can't get the original cast back for the film, do you think they'll cast a black actress as Hermione for the film?!

Stage door was insane tonight, the queue was going all the way down to the entrance of the theatre!

Cast change today, and Anthony Boyle isn't on to perform. A shame on his final performance.

I spent ages trying to find a ticket for the 21st and was even prepared to pay a ton to see it again with the OG cast one last time, but I don't think it would have been right without Anthony. SaveSave

Final performance done for the original cast. Hopefully we will be getting some official photos of the new cast in costume in the next few days

Haven't made my way to the spoiler thread for full thoughts yet but general info:
Sat in the back row of the upper circle in the side (05 O6) which despite being obviously very far away from the stage was a clear view throughout and I'd say only missed a tiny portion of action at the very front of stage. It also has the advantage of the rake meaning nobody's big head is in the way. And at £15 I really can't fault the value. Do I now want to see it again closer? sure, but as I say I can't fault what we paid. Also I have a bit of vertigo but I was actually ok once I adjusted, I struggle with looking down when house lights are up but was able to stay standing at the back until then and it feels less perilous up there than in some upper circles.
My companion was keen to obey the rules and go early, so we were there from about 45 minutes before. Quick enough getting through bag check, though I forgot I had some Haribo in my bag which got sacrificed to the Dark Lord.
Merchandise tip- scope it out pre-show or grab a catalogue, and go down at the interval to part 2 rather than before part 2 starts- virtually no queue at all then rather than queuing halfway down the stairs pre-show.
Also heed the warnings about reading the cast list in the programme unless you want to stumble on spoilers!

Even now the complete ignorance of some of the people commenting on these photos astounds me.
"Hermione is white. The book says so" "They just don't look right." "Where is Emma Watson?" "Why is Ron fat?"
Infuriating.

"Draco clearly dyes his hair" "That actor clearly doesn't have a scar" "They're old!"
I jest (a bit) but honestly I can't roll my eyes hard enough. Even if the book explicitly stated Hermione was white, as it has zero bearing on the story, and given the story also involves 100s of magical and fictional creatures, you'd think people could use their imagination a bit.

They look really good. Scorpius is sooooooooo young. The new Draco looks particularly great.

Managed to book tickets this morning to see the new cast on 11 June. And the new cast photos are just amazing.

The new Draco was on as the understudy to the role when I saw it in December. I thought he was great in the part, so pleased to see he's doing the role full time now.

Yes, I do remember him being able to do the comedy as well as the darker moments. He also looked a lot like Jason Isaccs as Lucius Malfoy, from where I was sitting in the stalls, not that it makes any difference, but I felt he looked 'like a Malfoy'.
I've seen it a couple of times now, and had prefered his performance as Draco, until I saw it just before cast change and Alex Price was fantastic, especially in his relationship with Anthony Boyle, but it was so near the end of the run they were all really boyed up. He was relaced enough to corpse on the 'Is that a farmer's market' line, which was a rather funny moment, although he managed to pull it back.
Anyway, it's excitng to see the new cast and wish them the best of luck.
