BTW, while I don't do star ratings on theatremonkey, my opinion would be 3 stars on part 1, 4 for part 2. And what level of familiarity do you have with the books and the movies? |

Thanks for replying. I;d wondered if your relatively low opinion was due to not knowing the backstory. May I also ask, what might you have made of it if you hadn't read the books? I haven't read any at all and I could bear to watch only the first ten minutes of the first movie, and I'm wondering whether I'll completely miss the impact of the plays, even if I manage to follow their superficial plot.

Ah no! - Thanks fro replying! This is turning into a 'will I, won't I' saga of epic proportions.
First, last October, I book tickets on Day One of sale because I think it'd be virtually impossible at a later date, and there are promises of official arrangements to return tickets, if I change my mind.
Then, in early February, I offer my tickets to the resale wishlist, as I won't know any backstory and have decided not to go.
Then, in late May, after the casting reveals that I am very familiar with one of the principal cast, and I am traumatised by the eternal wait for anyone to buy my tickets despite the supposed sell-out, I reclaim my tickets.
And now I'm dithering back again with the recurring fear, which you reinforce, that it will all be a load of gibberish.
What to do ... ?
Theatre going has never been this difficult.

Mind you, people seem to enjoy seeing Shakespeare despite most of the language being incomprehensible.

I was just going to say that, LOL.
Well, if you are already ticketed, you may as well "throw yourself on the bomb" and go for it.
Book 4, and the last chapter of the last book are the minimum study, if you want to "go for it." I would add that although those are the minimum study, book 5 would be quite a valuable read as well, otherwise the bits in Part 2 that have the potential to carry the most emotional heft just won't have much impact. |

Extending to 10 December 2017, on sale 4th August 11am. Tickets from £15 per part and 300 tickets at £20 per part at every performance!

Is there a button BOOK appear when countdown reaches 0 on this page? www.harrypottertheplay.com/ticket-information/Then what - you click and wait if the system considers you lucky today and let you proceed to actual choice of the date and buying process? Oh my god..... That was one of the best theatrical experiences of my life. Jesus. I'm a little shocked and walked out of the theatre with my mouth open!!
I've never seen magic like that on a stage ever. It's going to run for 50 years! Fire, water, flames, flying and it's scary, funny, witty and heartfelt.
The story and book are perfection with twists, turns, time travel, character reveals, sensational performances and magic beyond comprehension......
Wow. 10/10 #keepthesecrets

I am looking forward to eventually seeing this, if ever I manage to score a ticket haha. But there is no doubt that it will run and run for years to come. Already booking for a year and a half when it has only just opened, amazing!

Imagine if they opened another production in another theatre on the West End due to demand. That WOULD be a first!!! I wonder when Broadway will be? Great news for British actors. I'm so so pleased and proud this started off in London. It is one of the best shows to come from here since the 80's (Phantom/Les Miss/Siagon). Epic scale.
