What an excellent venue for this. Suits it’s intimacy so well. And a joy to finally see it here in the U.K.

Are we getting a new production of it?
I watched a stream of the Broadway production during lock down. I really liked one song at the end of act 1 but wasn't impressed with the rest.
The choreographed set changes really bugged me and dragged the evening out - it's the same director of Hamilton.

I enjoyed it when I saw it on Broadway but couldn't remember a single song a few days later. And I'm not sure I have any desire to see it again.
It suffers I think in comparison to Come From Away, which is the same sort of understated show but just far more memorable.
As a limited run it might do OK, but I think this is similarly a show that relied a lot on word of mouth, which takes time. But it's a small venue.

Just watch the movie on which it is based. It's a good story and I was initially pleased that it got adapted for the stage, but I found the musical slow as molasses with forgettable songs apart from the one where the leading lady goes on about Omar Sharif. Come From Away moves much much faster and also has the more engaging characters I think. Glad they went for a limited run at the small Donmar rather than trying for the West End.

Its in the plays section, but i basically overheard a conversation in the donmar bar before hte Henry V matinee talking about the new season ( to be announced Weds). A Dolls House Part 2 and Bands Visit are the two shows i heard them say was due to be announced |

So happy about this. It's rare that the most interesting/left field new American shows open here these days, so I'll be delighted if this happens.
I don't know the show at all but find the central concept really intriguing and it's on my 'must investigate' list!

I wonder how many young girls are going to think it’s Gary Barlow’s musical masterpiece being run in London. Could make for an interesting audience.

Saw this twice in the US - once with the original cast on Broadway and a second time on tour. Loved it both times, though Katrina Lenk had something very special about her as Dina in the OBC.
It’s a show that really lives in its live form and I don’t think the recording does it justice. Not withstanding the incredible live music, a lot of which is integrated into the live “band” on stage, so much of its success hinges on the atmosphere and magic that’s created very simply and in an understated way against a beige, purposely dull set. It’s a really unique, wonderful and intimate-feeling show (even at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre!) which really draws you in and I hope the version we get over here doesn’t try to transform it too much. I do think the Donmar is a great venue for it, and hope that’s confirmed soon.

One of the most underwhelming shows I have ever seen. (no surprise, I won't be seeing it)
I can see it at the Donmar but will I be making a return VISIT? ;-) - No, wasn't my cup of tea personally.

I really didn't rate this show in New York, but will be willing to give it another try over here. Donmar is a great venue for it.

When I saw this on Broadway I adored the songs, but I found the story is thin and difficult to engage with. Exciting that it’s opening here, but it was a three star show with Katrina Lenk. I’d hazard a guess at it becoming two stars without her.

Gorgeous, intimate venue for it.
It's such a gem of a show, one of my favourite scores of recent years, and hugely moving.
Question is...who will play Dina? Because we don't have Katrina Lenk's in Britain

Does anyone ever get any decent seats these days (without a subscription?) I don't want to sit on the side upper level........Mind you their schedule has not been inspiring (for me) lately anyway.

Donmar is not selling out months in advance anymore, you can buy tickets any day for Henry V with Kit Harrington

I loved the cast recording and the bootleg, very excited to see it. Carmen Cusack was supposed to replace Lenk before the show closed on Broadway, maybe she could make a long overdue London return in it
