Disney have released a first teaser trailer of the Beauty and the Beast film that will be released in March 2017.
I got goosebumps while watching this trailer. So looking forward to the film, but I'm slightly disappointed that the additional songs written for the musical will not be included - especially If I Can't Love Her, one of my favourite songs, not only from BatB but in general. At least Alan Menken is on board to compose the film's score, so, to quote one of his songs, I see the light.

I am soo looking forward to this - hope we get a longer trailer soon  and more of Harriet Jones as the Queen, in this it is only a blurry painting of the princes family |

Lots more post-production and CGI fuss these days I'd think.
Also, there used to be a time when we had ONE trailer come up 2-3 months before the start when the marketing campaign started. Now we get teaser trailers and teasers of trailers and whatnot to start the hype months before and by the time the actual movie comes around you're already tired of it all.

And sometimes it goes horribly wrong. There's a trailer at the moment that portentously announces "Next Year..." for a film that opens this month. The phrase "did not think that through" comes to mind. |

I hope they aren't running the risk of not telling audience that this is still a musical. I remember the trailers for the Depp Sweeney Todd and it wasn't clear enough that it involved lots of singing - causing people to get upset when Depp burst into 'song'...
I agree the visuals look pretty decent - but I was very disconcerted by Ewan McGregor's Lumiere accent. Just didn't ring true. Fingers crossed the rest of his performance helps mask that.

I saw an interview today that mentioned Lily Frazer, currently in the cast of In The Heights, is going to be in this film.

I'm pretty sure people are fully aware that Disney's Beauty and the Beast is full of songs.  From all the fuss being made about this teaser arriving, I was expecting to see maybe a wee bit more than we actually did. Wake me up when a proper trailer drops. |

The same goes for singing in a musical film, as long as it does not feel completely natural, like real singing, it does not feel truthful either (Les Mis, speaking 4 words and use vibrato on the5th). Truthful with this material lies in embracing the language of singing. Going all the way. |

I'm not liking the extra notes added to the opening music. I hope that's just for the trailer. It's as if they're adding different notes for the sake of being different.
I agree that they should have added the Broadway songs (absolutely love If I Can't Love Her), but what can you do.
Ewan McGregor's accent is off putting, but Ian McKellan is just reminding me of Gandalf rather than Cogsworth.

Scheduling is another factor as Disney had a full slate in 2016 and Spring is usually a good time to release films as evident with Cinderella, Jungle Book, Zootropolis etc |

BatB is by far my favourite Disney movie (it was embarrassing how emotional I found dining in the Beast's ballroom at Disney World!), and I'm sure there will be many things about this new film I would have done differently, or perhaps won't like.
But the new film doesn't change the original, and I am very excited to see another version. I'm wondering if some people should just skip the new film if they are already picking holes in the teaser trailer...

Yes I thought that too about Ewan. I really didn't like his singing in Moulin Rouge so am really wary of him in this. Lumiere can be such a massive let down when the singing's not up to scratch. Cogsworth doesn't matter if he can't sing too well. |

I'm certainly not saying that he should do the accent like that, I just didn't like the sound of it in the trailer. We'll see what it's like when we hear more of it. |

Two pics released on Titter- the first is a shot in a haven from Gaston and the second is a showing concept art of the showy French candelabra Lumiere and his ally Cogsworth. Having seen Zootroplolis and the recent Jungle Book and Pete's Dragon remakes, all of which were excellent, I've no doubt this too will be amazing. However don't get too excited from these shots alone. I'm assuming Lumiere's face is in the candleholder rather than the candle itself as I can't really make it out unlike Cogsworth

Nice to see Luke Evans returning to his Musical roots I saw him as cover Trekkie monster in Avenue Q years ago and he was the only decent thing in Rent Remixed!
