The bit on the mountain is very 'Sound Of Music' - I half expected a group of children clad in curtain fabric to appear!
Emma's voice sounds thin and nasal. Not great.

Her voice is terribly over-produced. I kind of feel sorry for her being led to believe she was up to this.
For a lot of people the best songs are probably the songs not sung by Belle, but for me they're some of my favourites, but I doubt they will be in this. I hated Ewan McGregor's singing in Moulin Rouge so I'm not looking forward to that. It sounds like they've cut Human Again, so all I've got to look forward to is Beauty and the Beast itself along with the new songs perhaps.

So, I'm assuming everyone has heard about what happened to the merchandising doll that Disney has released of Emma Watson as Belle?
Something went wrong and for some reason the face on the doll looks remarkably more like Justin Bieber in a yellow dress that it does Emma Watson.

The funny thing about this comments s that when the film was first released I was sitting in a cinema in Sydney with my best friend and his (then) girlfriend (now wife) and when that reprise screened she actually said "It's like the Sound of Music". And then someone in the row behind us also said "It's like The Sound of Music". And then in the final battle scene between Gaston and The Beast, where the rain is falling and The Beast is hanging on by his claws a little kid sobbed "Don't die Beast!". |

To be fair, it's not easy to make dolls that look like real people for a reasonable price. Or fictional people, come to that. Anyway, I was under the impression that all this was a crack at Justin Bieber rather than at Disney. |

Meh. I'm sure no-one really expected Emma Watson to be that hot as a singer. I mean (and Potty, sorry, Potter fans will no doubt hunt me down) she's no great shakes as an actress either so I'm not wildly bothered here BUT if they balls up 'Be Our Guest' I will personally hunt down every Disney executive and make them watch Idina Menzel murder Let It Go at the Oscars on repeat.

From what I have seen so far (all the clips, trailers and audio files), I feel a bit disrespected by the filmmakers. There is no way I'm going to spend money on this. I am sure it will be a success because BATB is a brand, and many people will go and see it anyway, and the filmmakers obviously will end up saying that what they did was great because many people bought a ticket, but I can't help feeling belittled and not taken seriously as an audience member.
These clips of Emma Watson singing are just plain embarrassing, that wouldn't even do for a community theatre production. Film is supposed to be believable. I don't believe a word she sings. They are already apologizing for the singing. I see a poor girl struggling with the material and the role. All the life is sucked out of it, it sounds weak, robotic and lame. Completely unbelievable. The line "That I simply didn't see" should be filled with nuances, inner glow and surprise about what she can't believe is happening, and every note and syllable should support that. We, audiences see and hear details, in case the filmmakers haven't noticed. Her acting in the clips is not convincing either. Also the single lines of other actors feel kind of forced and amateurish.
The sets look very cheap and CGI. Way to computer-ish. Every scene showed is just completely lifeless.
Material like this should be embraced, and taken to the horizon and beyond. Glorious. Supported by uplifting music and singing which supports the emotions and acting.
This project can be compared to the 2004 Phantom of the Opera film in terms of look, sound, singing and acting.

Luke Evans is a Doll he has finally made it.
I still think his transition from musical boy to Hollywood star via no major TV, celebrity, reality or springboard route has been just staggering! Good for him. We need more of it! Musical actors are just as good if not better!

So in the lead up to the release of the film in March Alan Menkin has obviously been in town playing some of the new songs from the show. Lots of positive things coming through on Twitter.

They showed the trailer for this before the Newsies screening at Vue on Sunday and it looked really good on the big screen, very much looking forward to it!

Outside of the Hobbit his films have mainly underperformed so I'd say this may be his last chance to crack Hollywood |

Yet to find out what the sub-plot is, but if we were to read La Feu and Gaston's relationship at face value, I am bit turned off thinking that the fugly gay has a crush on the tapping asshole alpha male.

Part of the story will be La Feu having an attraction to Gaston, and that will play throughout, but there will be a specific scene to do with his sexuality. So I am assuming he will have a slight conversation, or be asked on a date with a guy, or holding a hand haha... an ease in to start of gay Disney. |
