You can pick up lateral flow tests from pharmacies. Or you can order them to be delivered to your home from the gov.uk website. I do two a week as I work with some vulnerable people and I want to make sure I am not asymptomatic before I visit. Lateral Flow Tests are used by those showing no symptoms as 1 in 3 can be infectious with no symptoms.
With the government fudging the messaging on masks, this is a sensible shout from AGT to mitigate against the spreading of Covid.
On a different note, the school my kids attend is now classed as an outbreak school because of the number of cases amongst children. Several classes were sent for PCR testing (with parents taking them) in an attempt to see the spread of it akin to the community surge testing that has taken place in various places in the UK through the pandemic. They are now back to staggered starts and year bubbles to try and keep the school open.
Back to the show - really looking forward to seeing it in a couple of weeks time!! Can’t wait!!

The NHS free test will be acceptable as its a lateral flow test. I have done several lateral flow tests at home, but doesn't this require you to find a NHS testing site and to have the test there? I have found a site which is about 2 miles away from me in east London, but am taking an elderly friend as a guest, who lives in Essex, near Southend. The Essex council website has no information to say there are test sites anywhere in Essex - they suggest that some chemists may be able to assist you with a test, but then they are unlikely to be able to provide the required certification as it won't be a NHS test. This has disaster written all over it, for any visitor to London who doesn't have a test site close to their home. I can't see anything to say you have to go to a test site. There is a link on the e mail which takes you to the Gov.Uk site section where you download your test result. So looks like you use the free NHS tests.

Through that would mean no proof that the test has been validly completed by the person it’s meant to have been taken by. Will that be trusted by them?

How long does the testing kits take to come. Is two weeks notice realistic for everyone to be able to order them?

The answer is that AGT won't know - they will be reliant on visitors saying they have had a negative result. So long as someone has entered the number from the lateral flow test and declared that the test was negative, will get the e-mail to show at the door - which won't probably be checked in any event.

On my confirmation it states... (Which is the same as it's stating now)... To ensure the continued safety of our visitors and staff, all attendees over the age of 18 will be required to provide proof of their COVID-19 status to gain entry to the venue. Attendees under the age of 18 must provide verbal confirmation that they have not tested positive nor are currently suffering from symptoms of COVID-19 by their parent, guardian, or from the individual themselves if they are aged 16 or 17 years.

This is what I was confused about. Everyone was up in arms about this as if it was some new requirement yet I could've sworn they warned you about this in the initial confirmation email and lo and behold they did.

LFTs could not be easier to get - they are free, can be ordered online and usually arrive the next day. Or they can be picked up from a pharmacy, also for free. They also could not be easier to do - there are step by step instructions included with pictures. You then just have to report the result online, again by following step by step instructions. You receive both an email and text message confirming a negative result. This can either be shown on a phone or the email can be printed out. The entire process probably involves 5 minutes, maximum, of active effort. The rest is just background waiting time (for the test to be delivered, and then for the result to develop). If you're not happy to do that then I assume you just don't want to see the show that much and are searching for a reason to ask for a refund. Which is fine but there's no point in trying to argue this is some drastic and unacceptable ask on behalf of the theatre. At the end of the day, it keeps people safe. Maybe we should be doing it for every show, since people seem so adamant on refusing to wear masks.

Exactly, when i read that I took it you would need to be vaccinated or a negative test That’s certainly how I took it as well. I’ve seen plenty of other emails that mention Covid Status and they all include vaccination as one part of the status. With this Government liable to axe free tests at short notice what happens if they do - the show can’t realistically expect people to then pay for tests that were not a requirement when purchasing the ticket without offering free refunds. The Government is even starting to scale down testing for people with mild symptoms.

As if I didn't have enough reasons to see this show already. Good on them for implementing this, more tickets for the rest of us sensible human beings.

Will this be available to visiting foreigners/tourists too? It's no different to Broadway theatres requiring everyone to prove a negative test. Broadway theaters are not requiring that everyone show a negative test. Anyone 12 years old or older has to show proof that they’re fully vaccinated, but a negative test isn’t required for those people (and a negative test wouldn’t be enough if the person wasn’t fully vaccinated); anyone under age 12 (for whom vaccines have not yet been approved in the U.S.) has to show a negative test. Do they want complaints. Why have they not emailed everyone booked to tell them of this major change to the requirements. I think it shows the bubble theatre managers live in that assume most people test regularly so they won’t be a lot of people that will be even slightly annoyed by this. I think they have over estimated how many do so and they will be quite a few people who will have to be taking a home test for the first time. And they will certainly be more people than they think who either cancel or get turned back at the door.

I went online in the Summer, and got the vaccination passport in letter form, as it has no end date. I've now shown it at London and Manchester theatres (yes they did check at the door), and got in with no problem. You can get one by calling 119. If the Govt stops giving out free tests the letter is still evidence to provide when asked for.
Some of the negative LF test results I recorded didn't produce a text message, but I've always got an email which is in a special folder in the email app on my phone.

I used to have a girlfriend known as Maxine Who wouldn't wear a mask or take the vaccine When asked to do a home test she got sour As a matter of fact she made the ushers cower
The day we died, old Maxine she did snicker "They must have all had dodgy chests or tickers" Her fault? It couldn't possibly have been Don't dare to challenge her sense of self-esteem
I think of Maxine to this very day I remember how she'd turn to me and spray Coughing and spluttering all over the room Come! See her gloat and bray Life is all Maxine's way, old chum Life is all Maxine's way

Who are these people who’ve never done a lateral flow test before? It’s a doddle - if briefly unpleasant - and a reasonable measure even without warning. We’re not being asked to craft a scale model of the Titanic out of our own faeces, for goodness sake.
