I think the perfect venue would be the Ambassadors in terms of size. It’s one thing selling out the 200 (?) swat Donmar, to filling a theatre with 800 or so seats. Surely the Ambassadors would be difficult to make a profit with in terms of capacity plus the stage is fairly small, the original Broadway production was at the Booth Theatre which has 766 seats so I think something along those line isn't unrealistic. Still think @sohoplace would work well both in terms of capacity and also recreating the show like it was at the Donmar. |

Before the transfer happens (if it happens) I have high hopes that this show will be well represented at the 2024 Olivier Awards. What nominations do you think we can hope for/expect? For my wish list, I would very much like to see the following-
Best Actress in a Musical = Caissie Levy (the show's most likely cert)
Best Actor in a Musical = Jamie Parker
Best Supporting Actress in a Musical = Eleanor Worthington-Cox
Best Supporting Actor in a Musical = Jack Wolfe
Best Director = Micheal Longhurst
Best Set Design = Chloe Lamford
Plus a Best Musical nomination for the show itself - would it be in consideration for Best Revival or New Musical seeing as N2N hasn't been performed professionally in the UK before? I'm also wondering if we can hope for a N2N performance on the awards night itself. I'd love to see Caissie, Jamie and Jack do their 'You Don't Know/I Am the One' number like the original cast performed at the Tonys fifteen years back.

I’m really hoping this news of a transfer pans out. I saw the first preview and then two days later so I’d love to see how Levy’s performance changed, if at all.

Which is loony. It wasn't even the first UK production, just the first time it had been done in London. |

The current production of Jersey Boys is based on the off Broadway production which is downsized compared to the original. |

I saw the last performance and I really enjoyed it. I knew it had won the Pulitzer prize and little else (on purpose, prefer to be surprised).
About the show: an adult musical with a very interesting topic and very well written. I am not usually a fan of rock music but I think the songs are great, they give you a look into the characters' minds, advance the plot, etc.
About the production: Caissie Levy, no words, what an unbelievable actor. I didn't know anything about her but will definitely follow her from now on. Despite some comments on the forum, Jamie Parker was really good, very moving; I don't really care how strong his lungs are as far as he makes me believe his character. The rest of the actors quite good too, though I am not a big fan of Eleanor Worthington Cox, saw her in Jerusalem and The secret lives of bees and find her a bit limited.
Having listening a bit to the original cast album, I think I prefer Caissie Levy to Alice Ripley. Also the actor playing Gabe has a lovely voice which I think it suits the character better than the original's ( I won't give my reasons not to spoil the plot).
Now the buts. Though I liked the set, not sure about the upper half, the actors seem to struggle a bit with coming in an out having to pass by the drums and guitar player. Not sure it was needed to have the band displayed, it distracts from the action. The first half has too many high points and I don't really like when applause interrupts the action; this does not happen on the second half and I think it is better; as a general rule I don't clap until the end of the acts and want people to keep quiet so the action goes on. Some audience members had a really strong reaction, guy sitting by my side was sniffing and making quite a lot of noise; I can understand it but I prefer to listen to the actors and the music than to someone's sniffing.
To me it was an intelligent, mature and very well done musical but it didn't make me feel that much (unlike Grenfell for example which had me angry and upset and amazed during 3 hours). If it transfers I might see it again, hopefully it won't go to a massive theatre, I think it would me less appealing in a bigger space.

When making her speech during the final bow, Caissie Levy said that the cast, crew and director had become like a family, then added to Micheal Longhurst - "And now you're stuck with us." Which certainly sounds like they will all be getting back together to put the show on again, perhaps in the West End and Broadway.
Also, Jack Ofrecio made an insta post saying "Goodbye to the Donmar!", which a few people noted seemed like he was bidding farewell to that specific theatre but not to his role / the production as a whole. So the vibe I'm getting is that there are transfer plans.
