I was fortunate to get a rush ticket for tonight - can't wait! - as I can't attend my original date of Wednesday 28 July. As a result I am giving away my single seat BB1 for Weds 28 to whoever would like it. Ideally I would like it to go to somebody who might otherwise be unable to see the show. Is this by any chance a matinee ticket? I’m up in County Durham and desparate to see this show but train tickets and theatre ticket is just so expensive, even when coming on my own which I’m happy to do. Can only ever do matinees though because I can’t ever stay overnight. Apologies, it was an evening ticket and has now gone. |

I'm always walking the long route to get to the Barbican. That tunnel seems to be the usual and why does it seem to be such an effort to find this place. I usually arrive via the tunnel, but when I tried to leave once via the 'upper' level, I couldn't find my way down to the street! There's no signage at all (or at least nothing visible in the dark), and wandering aimlessly didn't work; I ended up walking back to the theater and going down to ground level. |

Seeing talk of Sutton getting an Olivier award, for anyone else who’s seen it, do any of the other performances stick out as award worthy? Especially interested in Robert Lindsay and Haydn Oakley. The former seems perfect for his part. The latter I believe has the funniest role in the show, and Adam Godley in the last Foster Marshall production excelled in it. Of course that was an exhilarating cast overall.

I just adore Sutton Foster and am thrilled at the raves for her here. On bad days, I'll watch videos of her in the Drowsy Chaperone where she also just radiated joy from the stage. Can't wait to see her with Jackman in The Music Man later this year.

She has a toy dog and she makes the most of the tiny role she has. She also looks glorious in the costumes. Cannot overstate how gorgeous they all are. It looks like they’ve spent a fortune on the whole production. It’s a shame it’s not going to have an open run in the west end. Would love to see it at the Prince Edward- would be the perfect venue for it. I think when Trafalgar's new theatre in Olympia opens in a few years time, I fully expect these types of show will go there rather than a West End venue or the Barbican. |

Wow - I enjoyed this show far more than I expected to. It really was fantastic. Highly polished, and the stamina of everybody on stage for the dance routines - especially in the sweat box of the Barbican. (It used to be one of the coldest theatres in London - they've clearly lost the switch for the aircon!) There's a charm to this production and I came away thinking that I'd have been very happy to have paid top price - you really get top value in this show. Have to be honest - it makes some other shows look, well, a bit crap really. This is everything a night out should be and so much more. The star quality on that stage is off the scale. Flawless. Bona fide 5 stars, or I'll eat Moonface's hat!

I got a top price ticket for £25, feels good to be back.
It takes the Queen Mary 7 days to cross the Atlantic, unfortunately Anything Goes took 10 years, but it was so worth the wait.
When Sutton Foster in New York in 2011 tap and sung the titular song going into the interval, that bagged her the Tony. Tonight she was even more bright eyed and bushy tailed and will win the Olivier for her stupendous singing and tapping to Anything Goes. I have never seen an audience give a standing ovation at the end of that song, going into the interval. She stopped the show again in act 2 for Blow Gabriel Blow. She had good support from Robert Lindsay, is there anyone better out there at doing musical comedy? Gary Wilmott and Felicity Kendall were great too.
After a difficult 18 months, it was good to have a light and frothy musical to get us back into the swing. Think you know where I am going with this and it is a deserved 5 stars from me.

The last time i was at the Barbican was in the days of gas lighting and horses and carts so I can't remember how to get from Barbican Station to the theatre. For those who have been more recently can anyone tell me how long a walk it is and if its fairly easy. I currently walk with a stick and so am pretty slow. Is it doable or am I better getting a taxi from Barbican station? The Barbican Centre is half way between Barbican Station and Moorgate Station and is a good 10 minutes walk from both. If this is difficult for you, I know you live on the Central Line, you can change at Liverpool Street and catch the 153 bus that runs every 12 minutes, if that is easier. |

Sutton was fabulous as always. Robert surprised me more than any other cast member, he was sharp, witty and outright hilarious (he broke the fourth wall a couple times). Felicity and Gary were great together. Nicole-Lily had a beautiful voice, reminded me of Laura Osnes. Carly was amazing as well, she was bold, brash and sassy as Erma. Sutton and Robert had so much energy and chemistry during "Friendship", a song that's often boring and forgettable, that I want to see it again! It was a bit of a shock that all the costumes from the Broadway production were completely redesigned but they looked beautiful. Sutton's dress reveal in Blow Gabriel Blow was quite something! The audience went crazy for it. {Spoiler - click to view}
There quite a few changes to the script - particularly the stereotypical Chinese characters - Luke and John, who've been rewritten; now they wear suits and speak perfect English, no fake accents. I'm guessing they wanted to avoid outrage of cultural appropriation and stereotypes. Their whole backstory is changed to be less racist and the Chinese bong sounds in the show have been removed. After Blow Gabriel Blow, the audience went crazy and it took what felt like ages for the show to re-continue. Multiple standing ovations at curtain call. By far one of the best nights of my life. Five stars from me and I'll definitely be going back in August. I wanna have a peaceful talk with the person who decided to rate it two stars.... |

I've had to take the plunge and order tickets to go as think I would be kicking myself to miss Sutton. When did train fares become astronomical I'm sure its never cost me this much to venture from the North ha.

Luke and John pretending to be lawyers, stop the wedding. Billy and Moonface then enter, wearing Luke and John's suits pretending to be little plum bossom's relatives. Most of the original lines with humor have been kept, a few removed for obvious reasons. Then Reno enters disguised, the original Chinese bong sounds have been replaced with a sexy sound effect. |
