It's so frustrating.
I totally understand from a commercial point of view that having single seats makes it less economical but considering the current times, single seats will be more popular than ever, as even people that would usually go together might now prefer to sit on their own if they don't live with their theatre buddies, or their theatre buddies might not be ready for in-person theatre yet or simply not be able to afford to due to loss or decrease of income.
Would have happily seen JCS more than once but not for the price of two tickets. And if local lockdowns come in when socialising outside your household will no longer be possible, people that don't live with their theatre companions will have to either cancel their tickets or break the rules, neither would be great for the theatre as the latter might still mean they'll close them if they aren't found to be enforcing the no mixing of households rule.

Not sure if it's discriminatory but it definitely means they either lose out on business from people that just want single seats or encourage close proximity mixing of households. Neither is great I guess.

This from the Alexandra Palace Theatre website:
"Please note so as to adhere to social-distancing guidelines, tickets are only available in groups with limited numbers available in each group (2,3,4,5,6). These are mainly between groups of 4-6 so it is advised to get a group together before booking so as not to miss out. Masks will need to be worn at all times in the venue"
They seem to have missed the point that within the 'rule of six' the fundamental social-distancing guidance of "Stay 2 metres apart from people you do not live with where possible, or 1 metre with extra precautions in place (such as wearing face coverings or increasing ventilation indoors)" remains. Whilst the government messaging is still as clear as mud - other theatres (such as the Open Air and the Bridge - both of which I've visited and felt incredibly safe) are saying that you should only attend in household or support bubbles. Seems quite ill-advised to encourage people to get a group of four to six people together specially to visit the theatre - where they might be distanced from other groups - but not within their own party.

Yesterday was the first day I felt uncomfortable on public transport, partly due to so many people not wearing masks but mainly because the bus driver was terrible. The bus was full - all seats taken upstairs and downstairs, five people standing and he was still stopping and letting people on. At no time did he stop or use the bus full sign and neither did he use the tannoy speech about facemasks. I use 4 buses a day to get to and from work and this is the worst it's been so far.

I'm East as well and my bus routes haven't been too bad - mostly enough space to be well away from the few idiots who don't bother wearing masks. I do agree there are more idiots on the buses than the Tube though, sadly. But still fewer than the number of people who arent bothering with masks in shops! |

I hope those wanting tickets got them today. Had a great pair of tickets in my basket briefly, as was still so very tempted. But public transport and a 2.5 hour mask session just doesn’t sound like fun to me |

I caved and booked. For me, the Tube has been fine off-peak...might Uber it from the station to Ally Pally though as buses haven't been great.

Much as I would have liked to have gone, without single seats (and very little even for pairs) this just isn't an option, especially with those ticket prices.

Managed to get 2 tickets to this, they went very fast.
I find the more you wear a mask the more you get used it to it (obviously not if you have health conditions), I travel up and down to Cornwall frequently by train so I have one on for 7-8 hours at a time and I don't even notice it now.
I've only struggled to social distance on public transport once (but I haven't used London buses, only trains and the tube), I tend to stay standing up on the tube so I can control my space more and no one can sit next to me.
