Policy for this is bonkers. Lots of availability still, but only for groups of 5 and 6. If there were more 2s and 1s would have sold out today.

Palladium are only leaving one seat between groups for Songs For A New World (guess thinking that as you are all facing and breathing forwards and masked, that should be enough). So a 6 could be a 4 and a 1. Or a 3 and a 2! Losing only one seat. Get that there will be a bit less money made. But how many groups of 6 wanna see Sunset? Much as I love it, not sure could assemble 5 other mates for this particular one!

God I would have been all over this if single bitchez were welcome! Single bitchez are bottom of the food chain during this "pandemic" - officially illegal to even have sex (unless in a steady relationship)

I'm tempted, but not sure I'll find a group that large willing to risk it. Even if I tried for just 2 people, recent developments make me question whether this is such a good idea... My all time favourite musical, in a theatre I really want to visit... Won’t be booking. No show is worth a trip across London on public transport at the moment. Really? Is it very dangerous? These shows are a valiant attempt at putting theatre on but they demand too much of the audience in order to comply with regulations.

If you think requiring people to wear a mask and social distance where possible is "too much" then you are as deluded as a certain idiot in the White House who has contracted the disease. I'm all for theatre restarting but we all have to be sensible about it. Perhaps you can explain what you mean by "too much", if it isnt that?

Or maybe you're the deluded one - ever thought about that? Biggest gaslighting in history is currently occuring....

I sincerely hope you haven't lost someone close to you because of this virus, or seen someone you know suffer and still be recovering months later. Not everyone is so lucky. One of my friends caught it in March and still hasn't fully recovered. If you want to treat it as a hoax or over-exaggerated then be my guess, everyone is entitled to display their own level of stupidity. But if you are one of the idiots refusing to wear a mask for no good reason or refusing to follow social distancing rules, which are not rocket science or draconian now, then you have blood on your hands and I hope you can live with that. And you're going on ignore, I can't be dealing with this sort of madness. I say all of this as someone who is very much for life going on as close to normal as possible and not hiding away, but that is only doable if people have a modicum of common sense that you clearly don't. And if you are joking or trolling, it isn't funny or clever.

Four centre block front row seats still available for each performance.
I'd love to see this but I'd be spending almost £350 on four tickets. Family happy to join me if I pay, but understandably they don't want to shell out £83.75 for their tickets so I'll also have to pass.

Yeah, Mazz truly does sound as magical as I expected. "I've come home at last" is going to be an incredibly emotional moment. Can't wait for next weekend!

I suspect her ‘Final Scene’ will be brilliantly bonkers and audible in High Wycombe.

Now why can't this be broadcast for "The Show Must Go On"? I don't know this actress but that voice sounds amazing

This from the Alexandra Palace Theatre website: "Please note so as to adhere to social-distancing guidelines, tickets are only available in groups with limited numbers available in each group (2,3,4,5,6). These are mainly between groups of 4-6 so it is advised to get a group together before booking so as not to miss out. Masks will need to be worn at all times in the venue" They seem to have missed the point that within the 'rule of six' the fundamental social-distancing guidance of "Stay 2 metres apart from people you do not live with where possible, or 1 metre with extra precautions in place (such as wearing face coverings or increasing ventilation indoors)" remains. Whilst the government messaging is still as clear as mud - other theatres (such as the Open Air and the Bridge - both of which I've visited and felt incredibly safe) are saying that you should only attend in household or support bubbles. Seems quite ill-advised to encourage people to get a group of four to six people together specially to visit the theatre - where they might be distanced from other groups - but not within their own party. Yes, saying “it is advised to get a group together before booking” is actually encouraging people to mix! 🙄 This has come back to bite them then I feel so sorry for them having to postpone. So much work must have gone into it already, and the disappointment must be huge. Perhaps, if they reschedule for a time I feel safer about seeing a show, I will be able to book. Would love to support a company that chooses Sunset as a “return” to performing.

I am gutted for them, I really am. But, and sorry to say 'I told you so', several people mentioned earlier on in the thread that if local lockdowns came in, the way that they encouraged people buying tickets in groups would not bode well. I didn't book as there were no singles, but depending on pricing and dates, will definitely reconsider now that there will be single seats available because as much as I am not a huge fan of the show, it will be worth it for Mazz.

They have made the morally correct choice in this situation, so good on them.

Agree, good on them.
Am sorry they have had to postpone, but it is the right thing and that guy does seem lovely.
Though must say did think there were too many 6s when sales started - and selfishly now that there will be 1s, I am excited that I may get to see it :-)

If seats in 1’s, 2’s and the odd 3’s are viable then it’s a bit of a mystery as to why they didn’t go for that in the first place. The whole theme of the restrictions have been to avoid mixing with people so telling people to create groups and book 6 tickets was a mistake.

It was a mistake, but at the time they were separating groups by 2m, and larger groups were needed to make it financially viable. When it’s rescheduled they say they can manage to work with smaller groups as they’ll only be separating them by 1m.

I know. Shame on them for trying to keep people safe during a pandemic by leaving 2m distance.

Let’s be honest, they did the maths and worked out the show would be more profitable if they sold all those groups with 2m than the 1’s and 2’s. It’s the only explanation. I don’t blame them for needing to get as much ££ as possible but it was playing fast and loose with the guidance and as stated up thread it’s bitten them on the bum.
