…and with Claire Sweeney busy elsewhere we might get an appropriate Eliza. Sheridan Smith is practicing her cockney accent as we speak…

Isn't Harry Hadden Paton currently doing a show on Broadway? I think they should get someone like Dan Stevens to play Higgins.
Who's producing it in London? I assume Nederlander is one of the producers as they are the producers of the national tour and were associate producers of the Broadway production.

The timings line up for Jessie Buckley to jump straight across from Cabaret if they wanted to go for someone of similar age like they did with Lauren and Laura...
Celinde Schoenmaker could be a good shout - although not sure how well the cockney would turn out...

Fingers crossed that this will also include the 29-strong orchestra from New York - though I loved the fresh arrangements in the NT production from 20 (!!) years ago a few more players in the pit would be most welcome!

Personally, I’d love to see Cassidy Janson do this.

It’s interesting the tickets will be on sale before the casting for the main two roles have been secured.
The Colliseum seems to like the musicals they bring in to have multiple big stars so I am not sure they will go for a non household name in the end for Eliza.
Doolittle will surely be a household name through along with Mrs Higgins particularly if Eliza is not a household name.

She will surely have a film project lined up after Cabaret - particularly if she is nominated for an Oscar as is looking increasingly possible.

Also the link Baz has posted is not working for me - I’ve tried it on two different devices without success. Anyone managed to access it?

Patricia Hodge for Mrs Higgins would be good although she might be busy with All Creatures series 3.

Amanda Holden ? 😂

I think we'll get a name for Alfred Doolittle, if Bradley Walsh didn't have multiple projects, he'd be perfect for the role.

I think we'll get a name for Alfred Dolittle, if Bradley Walsh didn't have multiple projects, he'd be perfect for the role. If Eliza is black then Garry Wilmot feels like a possibility for Alfred if he is not going back in Anything Goes next summer. The trend at the moment is that names are helping to sell tickets and those not sold on the basis of star names are overall struggling more atm.

Moulin Rouge has no names and is selling incredibly well as are shows like The Ocean at the End of the Lane which recently extended and the upcoming To Kill a Mockingbird so clearly untrue to say shows with no stars are struggling.

Yeah I can’t imagine he has time even for a eight week run let alone a possible 16 week or longer. Brian Conley started filming in Eastenders in March this year on a one year contract and his character is moving closer to what could be an exit so he is a possibility. Another possibility is Shane Richie unless I have missed another role for him next summer.

Sheridan Smith is practicing her cockney accent as we speak… Theres a chilling and panic making thought. My money is on Amara Okereke Is she too young for this production team. They seem to be have liked the no age gap between Eliza and Higgins idea. If Harry is Higgins she would be fifteen years younger and that dynamic wouldn’t be achievable.

Also Departure Lounge. The Chase they film 3 a day and do 200 shows a year. So that is 67 days a year. Oddly I would’ve thought Walsh would have been great in Everyone is Talking About Jamie.

Walsh has announced he plans to retire/wind down soon so the last thing he may want to do is take on a 8 shows a week role in the West End.
To counter that thought, he could be wrapping up The Chase soon and free to do some other things in his last year or so before retiring, in which case this would be perfect for him.

This is fantastic news! Will be bringing friends along to this for sure. Would love to see John Heffernan as Professor Higgins if he's available - I'm pretty sure I heard him say hes been seeing a lot of musicals lately so maybe he'd like to do one himself?
I agree I feel like Amara Okereke still seems a little young for Eliza but she could for sure sing the material. Sophie Evans could be a good shout too?
I'd like to perhaps see a recent grad as Freddie but I'm sure casting will be very pleasing once revealed. Can't wait to see Catherine Zuber's costumes in person!

I wonder if they'll go for an older Eliza like they did with on Broadway with Lauren Ambrose and Laura Benanti.
