I don't really think the moulin rouge comparison is quite equal as its a massive modern brand name.
My fair lady of course is a classic show but the generations that know and love these types of shows most are sadly slowly dying out. The broadway run and also King and I were shorter runs than many expected.
If Lucy St Louis can get out of phantom contract early I'd say she would be a contender. I'd be surprised if there wasn't diversity in the leads.

They couldn’t keep them running forever since they need to sell subscriber tickets to future productions. Shows at LCT are all limited runs. |

Fingers crossed that this will also include the 29-strong orchestra from New York - though I loved the fresh arrangements in the NT production from 20 (!!) years ago a few more players in the pit would be most welcome! Josh Clayton´s "tour orchestrations" are credited in the creative team, so it most likely won´t be happening. A shame, but the substitute isn´t as bad as it could be. The tour orchestration (which can be heard on the current US Tour of the show) is scored for 17 players. It replaces all of the violins but 2, a trombone, a trumpet and one of the clarinets, with a keyboard. At least it´s live, and a larger pit band than most West End theatres. |

I know this, but they were still expected to run longer and do better than they did. I love the art work for London, very classy. |

Walsh has announced he plans to retire/wind down soon so the last thing he may want to do is take on a 8 shows a week role in the West End. To counter that thought, he could be wrapping up The Chase soon and free to do some other things in his last year or so before retiring, in which case this would be perfect for him. He announced that several times before he then takes on new time- demanding roles. |

I also got straight in via the London Colliseum website.
Not bad pricing either considering it's going to be a big production. The preview I looked at has balcony £20 and £30 and stalls £125 with a large proportion of the stalls at £80.

I was much more impressed by her than I expected to be when I saw her in Pygmalion a decade ago but of course no singing in that, and as it was a decade ago might she be a little too mature for the role now? Thinking about it, has anyone done Eliza in both Pygmalion and My Fair Lady? I can imagine doing Higgins in both would be easier, given his vocal requirements for MFL are limited, & therefore more likely to have happened.

I'm intrigued to see the casting of Mrs Higgins and Alfred Doolittle. Mrs Higgins is a nice role for an older actress with name recognition, maybe someone like Sheila Hancock? I think Robert Lindsay could be a possibility as Alfred Doolittle.
I have a feeling Henry Higgins will be a name, and Eliza a relative unknown.

If Harry reprises his role then they'll have one name already. Perfect fit of name for the shows target market, especially with the new movie coming out at the end of march.
Mrs Higgins would be a great role for one of the great Dames, but I think Judi Dench and Maggie Smith or likely retired from stage work. Patricia Hodge would be ideal if she is free. Her role in All Creatures is small so she could be finished by May.
