Anyone have an idea of what the pre-performance talk is about? I've booked anyway ...
And as I've had goose bumps all weekend remembering the wonderful performance from Friday I've booked again for next Wednesday, front and centre stalls. I've been emailing to and fro with a friend who saw it on Saturday with her son; they were wowed by it. The son enjoyed it so much he's back again this week to see it, and my friend has just booked the seat next to me for next Wednesday.
It's ages since I've seen a show that's left me so exhilarated.

Greetings my liege, Nial Palmer,
I was sent you review on Facebook this morning. What an excellent review.
I shall be attending the press night at the Opera Popular ce soir. I have never been so excited to see a show, I must confess.
It is clear that La Close has triumphed once more. I expect the reviews tomorrow to say as much.
A fine day to one and all - I shall post a report from tonight at the Opera Popular as soon as possible.
With kind regards,
Goer Goerson. x

All the buzz around Siobhan in this must surely put her in contention for 'School of Rock'? She certainly should be opening shows now!

Saw the show Saturday night and Wow what a performance. Glenn got a response I have never heard in over 30 years of attending west end shows. Her performance was amazing.
Michael and Siobhan also were outstanding in their performances and vocals.
The score has never sounded so good with the 51 piece orchestra.
I was in the balcony so could not see in detail however it did not spoil my enjoyment of such a superb show.
If you have not got tickets get them, as the poster rightly says this is the theatrical event of 2016.

I enjoyed this but sorry, if a semi staged concert is the 'theatrical event of the year' , we are in trouble. There's a tiny show called Harry Potter coming.. I completely agree. I saw it saturday night and loved it. Glenn Close was fantastic. What an actress. Even better than Imelda Staunton in Gypsy if that is even possible Go see it!

Just back from seeing tonight's show. I can only echo what has been said before, this is amazing. Even from my cheap seat on the balcony it looked and sounded wonderful. I was so carried away that I didn't even notice how uncomfortable the seat was! Glenn gave a wonderful performance right from the start, and the audience went wild after With One Look (and also later with As if we never said goodbye).
On another note Michael's moobs really are a thing of wonder. Even from the balcony they look enormous. He does have rather cute butt cheeks though (the swimming cossie didn't quite fit tonight)

Do me a favour

I'm not really sure what to say about the show. I kinda feel that if I don't absolutely rave about it that it will be seen as negative, when in fact I thought it was great. It's just that I never really connect with a show when sitting a long way from the stage, and we were in the Upper Circle, although in the dead centre of the front row... but with the worst legroom I've ever experienced (I was warned!) which left me very uncomfortable throughout. Also, it's not the best thing I've ever seen as I saw the original production (40 times) and nothing can ever beat that.
But like I say, I don't mean this to sound negative. Glenn Close was brilliant, but I can't wait to see her from less than two miles away! It's hard to be drawn into a performance when you can't make out facial expressions, but her voice was still as good as it was 20 years ago. All the cast were very good in fact - couldn't fault them. And of course the music sounded fantastic. Has erased the memories of the actor/musician production of a few years back where the cast had to play their own instruments. Not sure how much a full orchestra really added though - I loved the sound of the original. Again, it might sound better when you're not sitting up near the ozone layer.
Some strange additions to the show. The bizarre "dummy" of Joe in the pool that hung above the stage throughout, and the weird young version of Norma who would saunter on every now and again for no good reason. It was just confusing and pointless. Glenn Close seemed to be mostly following the original direction of the show though, which I had no problem with :-) And seeing Norma's original costumes again was brilliant.
I can't wait to see it again on Friday from a seat at the front of the stalls, and without being almost folded in half in order to fit my legs in.

With One Look vs Just One Look (though the original WAS Just One Look!) Patti LuPone vs Patti Lupone

This is the actually the Mail review, and manages to offend by labelling Ms Dillon as 'decorative'. Is it staffed entirely by morons or just the out of touch? I'm pretty sure that calling a young lady 'decorative' is pretty much akin to a Bernard Manning mother-in-law joke.

^ Truly. Siobhan was actually fantastic; best Betty I've seen and I would think the most vocally superior person in the entire cast.

She doesn't get a solo and is defined entirely by the men in her life (absent drippy boyfriend, large moobed man-whore etc), so you can see how she might get disregarded, but absolutely shouldn't; not with that voice.

Wasn't the great revival of the Tony and Olivier winning Chicago 'semi staged'? ...it was, and it sank without trace I'm not sure that we can have people walking up and down staircases for the next twenty years, the impact on the combined West End/Touring communities knees would be crippling.
