On whether this could transfer to the West End with a different leading lady, I am surprised by the overwhelming consensus that it couldn't. Bryden is very good, but it's a little insulting to other actresses to suggest we have no-one else in the UK (or available on loan from elsewhere in the world) who couldn't also excel as Tammy. For me it’s not that I don’t think anyone else *could* do it (but I do think they would have to be stellar to match KB) I just don’t want to see another version yet. I didn’t have enough time with the original. I fell for this show and 6 weeks did not come close to scratching the itch. |

Maybe if Chenoweth’s own project doesn’t have legs, she would take this to Broadway. I’d get on a plane for that. She is doing Death Becomes Her on Broadway in 2024 so there’s no way she would do this. |

Hope they choose a better song to promote it...this looks and sounds quite annoying even though I really enjoyed it in person...maybe the cast recording won't be such a treat after all...

I don't think it's a teaser for anything. This will come back at some point but not anytime soon by the sounds of it.

Katie Brayben is an absolute powerhouse
The feeling when you leave the theatre & immediately try to listen to the cast recording, and there isn't one.... grrr

The second time I watched it, I consciously tried to memorize some of the songs, so that I could sing them in my mind after the show instead of just humming. |

May I ask a question?
I understand this is a new musical with original music by Elton John and lyrics by Jake Sheers however I was wondering, given that Tammy Faye has a successful singing career in her time, as to whether (in any way) they sampled some of her songs in what we saw on stage? Even if in the underscoring?
Just a thought and if they did, a little 'nod' to her.

Keep Cheno away from this. It benefits from a Tammy Faye without such recognizable physical attributes and quirks.

So you have never listened to or watched a bootleg? Practically every show in the last 50 has a cheeky recording of it somewhere, so its hardly a surprise that one exists for TF. |

I would never record one in a million years, but after a show closes if a slime tutorial turns up on Youtube I don't find myself getting that upset about it. I'm glad the cast recording is happening though, that's a much better way of keeping a recording of the show alive.

Give the producers a chance to get the thing off the ground for heavens sake. If people didnt do bootlegs,shows like Carrie would have vanished without a trace, we wouldnt have seen the amazing quick changes in the OG Dreamgirls, the list goes on.There is no bootlg video of TF out there.
Ive never recorded a bootleg and would be too scared to even try.Theres no way anyone could get away with that in such a small space.

We can give up our dreams of a full show cast recording in 2023. They are only recording 5 songs from the show let’s hope as a teaser for transfer?

Transfer looking likely to be September /October.
They are also reworking some of the show, so that will be the reason they won’t release a full cast recording yet.

This is great news!
Glad to know it isn't DOA and that they are sensibly giving the show another revision. Much as I adored it, it needed work.
Hopefully the publicity, that will no doubt be surrounding the show during Olivier announcements/awards, will bring us news about future plans and a chance to hear those promos (which I assume will be intended for Olivier voters).
I had heard from a rather reliable source that the show was going directly to Bway and not doing a West End transfer but it was a passing comment. I'll dig a little deeper and see what I can find out.
