This now on Netflix and it didn't really work for me. The stage show works much better.
I can't put my finger on exactly why or what but it just seemed a bit, flat? cold? Not helped by a miscast Matilda who to me didn't really have any screen presence.

Not helped by a miscast Matilda who to me didn't really have any screen presence. Some of the choreography in the movie wasn’t as good as the stage show, which is so strange when a film can do so much more - especially the School Song (the big letter blocks on stage Vs the classroom door signs) and When I Grow Up (no iconic swings, just following some kids home from school). Also them cutting large chunks of the Wormwoods scenes was disappointing when they’re one of the most entertaining parts.
