I beg of them not to have any dancers move as Chess pieces. It's been done- and it looks awful. Just saw the video of the Swedish production. Very well done. They should just re-stage that in English. They’re allowed to if it’s on a hydraulic moving chessboard though right? 😂 |

Mildly odd at "Elaine Paige In Concert" yesterday when she sang "I Know Him So Well" - her part only... nobody putting in the other lyric. Strange. What do you mean? Do you mean Elaine sang the first verse, but the second verse was completely unsung/orchestra only? That’s very weird! |

Second part done by Andy Panayi on the flute which is how it's been done for a while now - all male band doesn't really offer a Barbara Dickson!

Lovely scene in Corrie tonight: Tracy, singing along to the radio in the florist’s, is giving it full wellie to I Know Him So Well. Just when the second line comes in, and we think she’s about to do an Elaine (^), Mary enters and performs it beautifully, and both finish the song... Mary thinks they are just like EP and BD, although she is quick to claim the EP role for herself!  |

Exactly. Every time she sang "Wasn't It Good" etc, you'd expect "Oh So Good" etc, and there was no vocal, just flute etc. It was half a song. Messy, IMHO. I love EP, but this has pissed me off in her live gigs for years. I refuse to go her recent shows after going to her supposed "farewell tour"!!!
On many of her tours she's sang both parts which have been vaguely preferable to a flute solo but still sounds poor. I can't believe she even did it this way for the filmed Albert Hall show that promised "special guests" - woulda been nice with Barbara Dickson or some other female luminary to perform with. Other tours she's had some anonymous backing singer mumble the lines along from the shadows!
The song only truly soars with the full interplay - y'know, what with it being written specifically as a duet.

Barbara Dickson often sang IKHSW on her own with her band and it worked fine, but with guys like the late Pete Zorn doing backing vocals you hardly noticed EP was missing.
