The issue is not that the remaining dates (ie to 5 September) have been cancelled which is factually correct (as you said on your site Shaun - and you've been quick to update the story) - rather that some social media have interpreted and reported that as "will not return when theatres open". There is a great deal of work going to to try and ensure that it willing in fact return when theatres open - and most of the cast and team are aware of this - so it's unfortunate that there's been a degree of editorialising in the 'reporting'. Perhaps those working on the show who have been taken aback by today's story are concerned because having been told that up to now that the producers are doing what they can to restart the show - they've been faced with 'news' that it will not return. If there has been poor communications from the top then that is unacceptable - as those working in theatre are particularly vulnerable at the moment - so even more care needs to be taken. That said there's a difference between telling ticket bookers that they are going to get a refund tickets for five weeks of performances - and announcing a production will never see the light of day again. It's certainly a bit different to cancelling six months of an open-ended run without telling cast and crew - though no less distressing to those directly affected. There's a set and costumes sitting in the Garrick Theatre and there's no longer any other production lined up to go into the theatre. They are well placed, cast availability notwithstanding, to get up and running once there is some clarity about timelines and what is permissible in terms of safety, though clearly they aren't going to make any sort of announcement now given current uncertainties. There's even the possibility that it could be the first West End show to have an opening night given they were so close to it before lockdown. That would be a good tweet to read. Hear hear! Loved the show when I caught it in previews and dying for a return. It's a messy time for so many shows and venue programmers so feel as though social media posts based on customer emails or hearsay that lead to further speculation don't help cast and crews going through a tricky and emotionally fraught experience.

Apropros of nothing, but I'm pleased it wasn't all the usual suspects commemorating VJ Day on Saturday night. For me, Nicola Roberts was one of the celeb highlights.
I don't know if she can, or cannot, act, but she can certainly perform, and can most definitely sing.

It is indeed, hopefully a precursor to the full show next year, maybe? Fingers crossed.

Oh if this is true that would be amazing news! Was literally just saying that I am really not sure if the show will reopen so this would be delightful!
What is the source for this news?

I really like concert performances of musicals so will certainly book this if it happens.
The Sunday Specials at Cadogan Hall are among my absolute favourite live shows.

Mr B knew about the revival long before anyone announced it so I'd trust he's got an ear on the inside for this one...

I hope this does happen. I was so looking forward to seeing it at The Garrick but my performance was cancelled. Must remember to use my credit on Today Tix.

I’m hardly going to reveal my ‘source’ am I? Needless to say ALL of the cast have agreed to come together for the week of performances. Watch this space.

Thank you for sharing, it certainly brightened up my week with all this gloomy news, I do hope it is able to come to fruition.

I think it's coming back! ! !
Nicola Roberts was on BBC 5 Live with Nihal Arthanayake today and at the end of the segment he said "...before the news we heard from Nicola Roberts, singer/songwriter, former Girls Aloud member who is now rehearsing for a starring role in the musical City of Angels..." 😱

Also the Garrick is unavailable until at least 2022, and I'm not sure where else there is that's free that's the right size? If she's rehearsing now they'd be looking to open in 6 weeks max?

Hadn't mrbarnaby or someone suggested that a concert version may be coming at the Palace, or did I dream that?! I would love the full production to return.

TheatreFanOffical (aka Sean Tossell) made a post on his page that shows a skyline and an angel emoji. I guess he was hinting at COA.

Yes I saw those tweets that lead me to investigate further lol that's when I listened to her radio interview that day. In he intro he asked if she was in the middle of rehearsals and she kinda stumbled abit mentioning she had shot a short film (trailer mebbe??) but then he made the comment at the end of the interview and said she was in rehearsals for City of Angels lol So not sure what it means, if it's coming back properly, or what?? Fingers crossed x

This must of been what Stephen Mear and Nicola Roberts were working on. But I wonder what this is in aid of? Thoughts? X
