They are different Olivers. Oliver Tompsett is playing Charlie in Kinky Boots whilst it was Oliver Savile who played Bobby in the Aberdeen Company. They are both former West End Fiyeros - which might be why the confusion arose.

Saw this last night for the first time as a result of winning the lottery. Momar was on as Lola.
While I can't say the story is up to much and I definitely wasn't emotionally invested, they do an excellent job of putting on a show and the audience ate it up. A few numbers that have the wow factor in terms of performance despite me not really caring about the characters and story that surround them. Was also pleased that for a show a couple of years into its run the standard of the cast and production values were overall very high.
Whatever vocal issues Oliver may have had on his first night were not there last night, he was pitch perfect and his Soul of a Man was the highlight of the night for me.
Momar was fantastic in the upbeat numbers and not quite as convincing during the emotional moments, vocally and in terms of acting. Still very impressive though and would be worthy of being Lola full time in my eyes. And obviously his incredible height makes him have such a presence which is necessary for the character.
Natalie was vocally perfect but I was really not a fan of her characterization which came across more cringey than funny to me. At first I thought it may just be the character rather than the actress but having watched a video of Annaleigh Ashford doing The History of Wrong Guys, I much prefer her more subtle take, despite the awful British accent.
3* overall.

This means something is going straight into the Adelphi, because for a while, it has been a case of keeping Kinky Boots open until something else wants to come in.

September 2015 (August 2015 in Previews) to January 2019, and over 1400 West End performances, an amazing run for a show these days.

The same closing day as Dreamgirls! That's a whole lot of fabulous leaving town in one go! ☹

If 42nd Street closes in January too these will just be the darkest days.
The Strand will literally be emptying on the same day.

I knew it was coming at some point soon but I’m still not ready for it. It’s the only show currently on in the West End that I truly care about. So glad I never booked for the Dreamgirls closing show as I absolutely have to be at this.

Wasn't it said Mary Poppins was going in?
I think that the landscape of Musicals in the West End will be quite different come this time next year with several theatres now free and i'd have thought at least another couple shows announcing closure before the year is out.
Exciting time in many ways if the producers/theatre owners want it to be....
