Saw the matinee on Saturday; both the cast and audience seemed so energised. A real fun-filled atmosphere. Simon-Anthony was a great Lola; more butch than Matt but that works for the boxing element. You will laugh at his delivery of some lines compared to Matt. He is particularly excellent at his impersonations of Charlie and other characters, capturing their original delivery of a line so well that when he mocks them it is pure gold. The sadder moments are also done well and he played excellently against David Hunter. What a fab pairing. Verity Rusworth as Lauren is sadly the weakest I have seen. Her singing is top notch but she has not found the wackiness required to fully convince; when she does it is only briefly then back to being Verity. I am sure this will develop in time. She also coped really well when the blonde wig went haywire in The History of Wrong Guys and was caught in her mouth for most of the song. Some great additions to the ensemble too; Jane Milligan particularly hilarious. Met Simon, David and Verity at the stage door. All spent time chatting to fans and signing/having selfies. Already making plans to see the show next year for my fifth time. What about Simon vocally?

What about Simon vocally? Extremely good, particularly Hold Me in your Heart.

Not actually Kinky Boots related but for anyone who enjoyed seeing Paul Ayres in the show, he will be singing with a band called Bloomfield Avenue next Sunday. Ben Wheeler (Jersey Boys) and Joseph Prouse (Beautiful, Jersey Boys...) are also part of the band. Rachael Wooding often sings with them too but I don't know if she is doing this gig. Should be a fun gig. Thought I'd mention it in case anyone is looking for something to do that evening. www.facebook.com/events/325865384536520??ti=ia

Crazy to think that today marks two years since the first preview of Kinky Boots in London and still going strong!

How exciting! After a year in the show, Suzie gets to go on for Lauren tonight! She's fabulous as Nicola when I saw her, she has a great voice.

Looking on the website, most shows through September seem to be half sold. Does this show get a strong walkup? It does discount closer to the show... not significantly really, but it seems to work. It's dayseat line seems consistently busy, where by they are smart in offering other seats in the Stalls and Dress to those who can't get front row. I haven't heard much of any levels ever being closed either. So they are getting people in... whatever they are grossing though may tell a different story, but I imagine they make the money they need to run.

Speaking of grosses, the Broadway production is likely set to close short of its 5 year anniversary if it doesn't throw some star casting back in. Once Brandon left, the production grosses dropped by $878,365.50, and this week it has again dropped a further $80,231.25. It still made over $700,000 though, and it has recouped already I believe so it doesn't need to make major amounts. But even the return of Billy and Stark may not be able to save it. But through the rumour mill, they are apparently being brought back to close the production out anyway.

I imagine there are shows wanting the Al Hirschfeld Theatre so it may be chugging along but a closure wouldn't surprise me. I think it has another 1-2 left in London and then it'll go on tour.

I was only half listening, so please forgive me, but I think Elaine Paige said something on Sunday about two actors returning to play Charlie and Lola on Broadway for a limited engagement.

Rumor within theatreland is that the show is going to close sometime in 2018 as the producers don't want it to burn out and then it will head out on tour.

I believe that the general belief is that it will close, as you said, though I don't think it's definite as to when just yet.

In case someone interested Momar Diagne is on as Lola till the end of this week. Saw him last Sat on his first day and omg he reinvented the character for me! He is sooooo tall and his legs just last and last and his Lola really stands out surrounded by "ordinary hobbits", sorry, people. Can't say he was flawless but it was his first day in the part and he already found something to add to make the part hos own and I guess he will add even more. I adored him, as you may guess! here's his cute pic with principal Lola and the height difference

I think this will do really well when it eventually tours, I might even be tempted to see it a 3rd time!

Bit of a weird one here but here goes...
My friend and I have ended up with a spare evening in London next week with no plans (thanks to Lady Gaga postponing her tour). My friend has decided that she wants to see Kinky Boots but we’re on a bit of a budget (especially considering we’re trains/hotels out of pocket for a cancelled concert). I suggested the TodayTix app but what’s the deal with the lottery? How late in the day do you find out? What is the likelihood of winning? If you don’t win, is it too late in the day to get tickets for another show? Is it possible you’ll get a cheaper ticket through the app in the run up to the show?
Sorry for the questions, it’s been on my mind for a few days!

Sorry for the questions, it’s been on my mind for a few days! I've entered several times and won three times, as well as had friends win more than once. For evening shows, you find out by 15:30 or just after that time. And for matinees, you find out around 10:30 if you have won. Be aware too that sometimes, especially weekdays, they offer best availible at a discount price to those who didn't win, I think its Band A prices for around £30 I believe, but thats not at every performance.

I'll go with a late spring closing then, even as early as March.
I hope to god it comes to Glasgow! Sometimes they skip it if they get a good run in Edinburgh

Saw this again last night, the shows in such good shape, helped by an incredible atmosphere. Would love to see this show run and run but I can see it closing when/if the tour happens
